Being a Magic fan since the inception, I can't help but think The Magic are run by a bunch of morons or they're just really unlucky.

First Shaq
Then Penny Hardaway
Then Grant Hill
Now Tmac.

I just had a thought.....Grant Hill and Tmac can opt out of their contracts after next season.
Of course we all know what Tmac will do.
So next season, we will know for sure if Grant Hill career is over or not.

So lets say hes done next season...Should Grant Hill is opt out of his contract and retire ??
I mean of course he doesn't have to. He can just sit back and collect the next 3 yrs as it is guarrantied.
But seriously, how can he just sit back and collect the whole $93 million contract knowing he only played about 40 games in the 7 yrs.(this is assuming he can't come back healthy next season).
Hell, he already crippled this franchise for the last 3 seasons.

Anyway.....I'd say this team is run by a bunch of idiots.

i don't think they could have stopped shaq from leaving. they did offer him more money than LA at the time, but shaq wanted to be in LA to pursue his movie and music "careers"

I don't know how his contract is setup, but he'd be stupid not to take the money. It's not like he hurt himself intentionally. I saw the "Behind the Glory" on Grant Hill and that show made it seem like he really works hard on getting back. As long as he does that, I don't see any problem in him collecting his $$$. Sure, it's not great for Orlando, but that's not his problem.

Edit: You'd take the money too, don't kid yourself.

shaq brought magic to the semi-finals, then tanked 4-0 so he left for a better team. just like this year shaq got to the semi-finals and after an embarrassing 4-1 he wants out. i guess 4 stars on one team doesn't balance right, while magic can hardly keep 1

the magic really screwed up in losing tmac... stupid GM trying to be a tough guy but you don't simply trade a super star just because he might not resign the following year (what if the magic make the playoffs next season?).

Grant Hill is prolly gonna have a hard time getting a large contract.
Orlando has been cursed with the crap pole.
They can't seem to do anything right.

They rocked when they had penny and shaq

Don't about you, but if I got payed 93million to sit on my ass, I sure as hell wouldn't opt out.

Shaq wants out because management has made it clear that it is no longer his team or that they are going to try to come anywhere near what he wants. Malone isnt going to stay and payton is definitely not happy so they are going to be minus their stars. Who would stay in that situation, not to mention the media nightmare that team is in, thanks to kobe and being in L.A. Besides with Dallas needing a center and Cuban willing to spend anything, think of the possibility of shaq in dallas next year.

Anyways, had the magic kept shaq and hardaway, they would not of had the chance to draft tmac or would have tried to get grant hill. Its just a typical turnover rate. That all the teams go through. Its just unfortunate we couldnt have seen all of those players stay healthy and on the magic. That would have been sweet.

Funny, Payton's agent said there's a strong chance that he'll be in a Laker's uniform next season......

Did you watch Doc's playoff commentary? I would hardly call that a loss. After about half a game, I was asking for anyone else, even Bill Walton. Doc doesn't offer any insight and barely even followed the plays on the court. I want to punch him in the face.

*Kobe pulls up and misses a 3 pointer*
Doc Rivers: It looks like number 8 is getting his rhythm
Al Michaels: ...

Yeah, like the guy above me said, they also dumped Ben Wallace, and he's kicking ass up in Detroit now. There's a handful of other players they've gotten rid of that have gone on to do really well on other teams.

Today in the Orlando paper one of the writers was saying "It's time to bring Shaq back to Orlando!". So we'll see if the Magic agree with his idea and try to do that. It's gonna suck seeing T-Mac leave.

BTW, someone above mentioned that Orlando drafted T-Mac, and I believe the Denver Nuggets drafted him, or not Orlando anyway, and Orlando got him via a trade.

Actually it's because no other team is stupid enough to pay Payton $5 mil, considering he got burned by a one-legged Cassell, Mr. CBA Darrick Martin, and Billups (7 seasons, 5 teams).

Hoping my Warriors can land T-Mac.

Toronto drafted him. T-Mac signed with Orlando as a free agent, same year they signed Hill.

Does anybody in baseball make $30 million a year like Shaq does in the NBA?

A-Rod and Manny both make over $20 mil per year. Easier to pay that much in the NBA because they have less players on roster.

When Orlando signed Hill and T-Mac, they were going to be the beast of the east. It was a great move! Look at them now. If Hill was never hurt and played like the star he used to be, T-Mac would not want to leave and free agents would be more inclined to player in Orlando. It's just dumb luck Hill got hurt.... The Salary cap can kill a franchise (just look at my Knicks).
