I've got a 2.8ghz Core 2 Duo and a 9700M GT and I can't get 5fps on the lowest settings! Horrible!

Eh, something is wrong on your end. I've got a Phenom II 940 with a Radeon 4890 and it runs fine with all settings cranked up.

4870 here with 3800+ x2 cpu(full hardware upgrade soon so don't ask ) anyway seems to run fine so far, however only played for a short time, graphics seem ok to me @1920x1080 res.

I should mention I was running 1680x1050 windowed mode too. Didn't feel like getting stuck fullscreen last night (1920x1200).

I was using 8x anisotropic filtering and high settings too,was decent enough outside for the most part and quite a lot of players too.

Windowed mode crushes me.

Found the FPS meter, getting 59fps right now, dips as low as about 30 for me. That's with most all the settings on and cranked up.

I like the depth, but the engine is seriously clunky, the animations are godawful, the graphics are subpar, it's a resource hog and pretty much every aspect in the game is in need of serious amounts of polish. And what's with the mouse smoothing? That is disastrous in a game with manual aiming.

But, as I said, the depth is nice; the crafting system and the character/stat advancement in particular. But I can't see playing an infinitely more polished game like Diablo 3 is shaping up to be, and having the faintest desire to return to a world with gray ground and 2 or 3 repeating bushes for miles and a characters that jerk around like Michael J Fox when they move.

I have to say, I find myself getting lost in this game - the good kind of lost. It really feels like some sort of post-apocalyptic survivor. The graphics aren't great, but they seem to fit in fairly well. And they run smooth for me.

So is anyone having any fun with this I D/L'd it twice and each time I try to install its missing some file. I don't want to spend a ton of time trying then find out the game stinks.

Well... I am pleased. It really does look like a shityass game. But once you start playing it for a while, the game itself really seems to hit home. It's huge, and you really feel like you're alone in and against the world just trying to survive.

As far as I know though, the beta ends today, so you might not want to bother.

I'm really liking the classless system and the crafting. The quests are well written and a lot of them seem to be tied to larger plot archs. The missions are pretty varied too. Everything from "kill the ferocious (miniature) mutant chicken" to "craft me some soup 'cause I'm starvin".

The combat could be smoother. The NPC movements are kind of jittery.

One thing to point out is that when you're trying to hit an enemy, you have to keep the mouse cursor on them. The hit detection might be a little TOO good as you can miss if your cursor happens to be in the gap in their arm pit or crotch when you shoot or swing. Don't lead your target as you do in an FPS or you'll definately miss, and don't assume because the enemy is in front of you and you're flailing a wooden board madly that you're going to hit them, you have to keep the cursor on them.

Edit: also, this runs great max setting @ 1680x1050 with 3.2 C2D & GTX260, but YMMV. I had to turn off my forced AA/AS in nvidia's control panel as it was causing some weird banding with shadows on certain textures.

Oh no, you definitely have to lead target... I found if you're tracking your target (NPC) and you fire while he's moving, you usually miss. My absolute favorite though is the excessive ragdoll physics when you kill a humanoid NPC with melee. They usually go flying around in a rather hilarious manner.

DL'ed last weekend and gave it a few hours. Not really my game. Didn't like the controls, didn't find the story too engaging, and felt too FPS-y for me, much like Tabula Rasa.

How is this game actually doing? I noticed it on Steam when browsing today, looked cool until I noticed it was MMO I wasn't really looking for an MMO but on the surface, it sounds pretty awesome... Fallout 3 MMO style.

Any updates on what the game is like to play? Im tempted to pick it up for my gaming fix.

I purchased this game a couple days ago. I am no level 5. I havent seen much of the game. Just one of the starting towns.

Ive played many MMO's and the one I remember fondly was my first MMO, SWG.

This game has the feeling of SWG pre-CU. Im in the crafter start area.

For the first time in a long time I look forward to jumping on and playing for a while. It definately needs a little polish but I think they are doing a great job with this game.
I love playing it.

It has a FPS combat system with specials on your hotbar.

If you do purchase this game I highly recommend getting the preorder from Direct2drive. They have a special preorder item - Wasteland Horse. (Mount)

Steam preorder gives you a shirt your guy wears and gives stats.

There is also a preorder where you can get an ATV. I dont recommend it. Its pricey for gas. You are better off with a horse. Horse you can jump logs, fences etc.. atv you'd go around.

So.. I love this game. it is not for everyone.
You can check out the General Discussion on fallenearth's website fallenearth.com.

Well, I dumped some loot on this and I have to say, it is not as "Fallout-like" as I expected. Due to the amount of people around the start area, it feels less post-apocalyptic but because of the starting items you see and as part of crafting "scavenge" (read: harvest from nodes that look like plants/rocks/junk piles), it gives you the feeling that there really isn't much to work with.

Game feels solid, runs decently and looks decent for an MMO. Trans-atlantic lag (1 server based in America) is not too bad and I feel as acceptable. The lack of a class system is such a benefit and allows you to do what the hell you feel like. They have a template system which you can follow to make certain "builds" as designed by the staff in-case you find the freedom a little daunting.

Steam pre-order shirt seems to be under some confusion. I do not have mine, I have emailed support but supposedly we aren't getting them until the game is officially released. Bit of a swizz since people have horses and ATV's from their alternate pre-orders.

I am level 3, nearly 4. Died about 10 times because so far it is not easy to stay alive. Big combat learning curve despite a basic system which anyone who has played an FPS/TPS would be familiar with.

Look forward to playing more. I created such a generic name for a character, Jim Hastings

I'm playing it and liking it. The crafting is inspired, the combat is quick and dirty, and it's something different from all the high fantasy MMOs floating around.

Level 30 in sector 2 at the moment.

I picked this up on a whim, mostly because I was getting sick of the "same old, same old" present in Aion. I have to say, while this game has fairly buggy elements, wonky character animations, and graphical glitches, I'm enjoying it a lot more than I did with Aion and Champions Online. I'm not saying either of those other games are bad but Fallen Earth is more like a world than a game. I think I'mjust getting tired of linear, themepark type MMOs where all your characters pretty much have to take the exact same path everytime you want to play a different one.

I'm looking forward to seeing Fallen Earth getting polished up.

yeah...im playing AION and Champions at the same time...i found that i enjoy Champions far more because it doesnt follow the norm. Aion seems like another version of WoW...kinda disappointed i bought the game and attached it to my NC soft account..

I am very wanting to try fallen earth, aside from what i hear about the graphics.

id love to trade my aion account for one...but sux that all my guild wars are attached to this..im honestly better off playing guild wars where its free to play. MMO's are too time consuming for the required time usage. people want to get there money's worth on top of the cost to buy the game..thats one thing stopping me from buying fallen earth. initial investment

This game looks interesting to me. I have never really played a MMO but this one seems different then the typical wow. It just looks like it needs a good bit of work. If they had some kind of free trial I would be all over it but dropping $50 and a monthly fee for a "indie" MMO is a bit steep. They should give the damn client away!

well, I have it installed and my very early impression is: confusion. As in - this game is confusing. EVE confusing. More to follow as I comprehend it.
