Well, I'm having fun with the game but I'm not sure if I will stick with it. I think it could have been very cool as a more harsh MMO. Like you lose stuff when you get killed. The beginning area could be PvP free but the rest could have been a harsh environment. Where resources are very scarce and you have to band together to survive. Where different guilds vie for control of towns and resources.

As it is, you can take control of towns but you don't lose anything when you die. And resources aren't that scarce, so it doesn't force you to band together. But then again I just started so I'll see how it goes.

No way is it anywhere near as confusing as EVE.

Well, after spending a week with the game - I'm going to have to recommend against it. I've played a lot of MMOs at launch and I understand the speedbumps that go along with it - but this one is especially lacking in polish. The concept is pretty cool and a lot of the gameplay ideas will be solid once they shore up the controls and visuals and clipping issues. But until then, I'd stay away.

I've never seen an MMO that neglects to tell you so much about itself. Some may dismiss knowing how to play the game at the outset as "handholding," and that's fine. I wish you the best. The rest of us though, should wait 6 to 8 months to see what they do with this title.

I have to disagree with this.

The game does have issues. Some instances of mobs shooting through walls, some server issues that they are having to take the server down for... but this is no worse than I saw in AoC and several large free to play MMO's with micro transactions.

Graphically Sector 1 is rather unimpressive. Like Fallout 3 (I head FE'ers cursing me now), it is a desolate wasteland with small towns and rubble dotted around. The graphics are above the standard of your average MMORPG and once you move into S2 (prairie style) and S3 (Forest), you appreciate the graphics even more.

To clarify, I run 1920x1080 x4 AA, x4 AF, AAA, Very High textures, basic post processing and all view distances maximised. FPS in towns is terrible and needs to be addressed, I go down to below 10 FPS at times in towns but enjoy 30-70 outside.

Controls are quite fine in my opinion. It is what you'd expect from an RPG and FPS hybrid, feeling more Fallout than Stalker.

The back office team at Icarus have been working hard to patch and improve the game already. There are GM's online almost 24/7, if one isnt online there will be one on very soon.

I quite like the 'no handholding thing'. I do think it is very harsh having no Skill Point (AP) respec down the line because it is very easy to 'make a mistake' with your AP in the early days.

Learning, exploring, 'surviving' is the most fun in this game. A good crafting system that doesn't hinder your ability to go and explore or fight compliments the game nicely. Something different from the normal and in my opinion, crappy WoW is very fun. I havent felt like I have grinded yet and im 2/3rds of the way through.

They are offering a limited free trial period starting October 23rd. I would suggest that people go grab a key and try it for themselves.

Good, I'm glad you like it! Just not for me though - and I'm not sure if it's because I like to have a little more polished experience in my MMOs (I think the Help channel is evidence in and of itself that there is definitely something missing in that field) is all.

I would definitely say that when the trial keys come down, snag yourself one and give it a shot. Worth it for free.

I would definately advise people pick up a trial key if possible.

More polished MMO? Well, I agree and I don't here. For a new MMO (less than 1 month old) it is fairly well polished in my opinion. Compared to something like LoTRO which is probably the least buggy MMO, it doesnt hold a candle to it.

As far as I can remember and "compare" as best we can, its launch month has been better than WoW's.

Major complaints on the forum are really unjustified. Yes, it has problems... did you expect perfection? For a small company to produce an MMO that is different and more fun than most out there is stunning and if it takes them a couple of months to get it to a higher than average performance/stability game out there, I will support them.

(Final paragraph was not directed towards you, just a gripe of mine in general. People have no patience and are still complaining that the game should have been in beta for longer. As an MMO, it had a more than acceptable launch and I believe the Devs should be proud .

Ugh.. I actually miss this game. It's been two months and I'm having withdrawals, alpha and beta testing was too much fun. I want to know how this game looks after retail but I must resist. My degree is more important, I cant have this thing sucking my life away again.

Anyone want to share their experiences? Maybe it will ease the pain.

Been playing for a month and i'm still having fun. Nice and tough to learn PvP is open but only in certain areas of each of the three games zones known as S1, S2, S3 (which btw are freaking huge).

lvl 26 myself - Sunder. There's only 1 game server
Anyone want to get together for pvp or some group missions, or just advice/chat, look me up

Just had to cancel my subscription. I only had the funds to get the game and play for a month extra so I officially quit on the 22nd of November.

Jim Hastings (Level 39) and Mikhail Kalashnikov (Level 16) in game if you want to get in touch with me when I'm around.

man that sucks you put that time into the characters then have to quit

Yeah but I knew the stakes when I started and I had a blast. Definitely money well spent!

Jim is my Social Crafting Rifleman. ~135 in Science and Ballistics, ~125 in Mutagenics with decent ~85 in Medicine and Armourcraft. Able to craft some nifty guns and Advanced Motorcycles .He was my first character and not entirely AP perfect.

Mikhail on the other hand is AP perfect so far for my build and has around 400 AP I think at level 16. He's just on his way up to S2 to have fun.

One thing that broke the game for me really was that at level 26, Jim went into S3 and was able to rather easily kill level 42-43 mobs for masses of chips (50-200 chips per kill, give or take). Theres no way that should happen really.

For someone looking for a different challenge to the typical MMO out there, I cannot recommend it enough... and for a small company, it most certainly is one heck of a game.

And I am now officially a subscriber.

I like this game. So very much. There's just no other MMO that right now holds a candle.

Took you long enough!!!

I wish I had the funds to stay in an MMO right now.

Thing is, I don't. A friend is paying for me as usual. Still though... I'm happy to be. I'll probably drop in some spare change now and then to keep it going though.

Tried it.

Lacks alot of polish. Not terribly newb friendly. A LOT of bugs still.

Seems like it should definitely still be in beta...not something thats been out for more than 3 months.

I tried it and wanted to like it, but there were a few things that bugged me, including:

1. Having to go round doing every single quest in every starting area to get skill points or be underpowered (at least according to everyone I talked to).

2. Bugs all over the place

3. Wasn't hardcore enough like I had hoped it would be.

Had some cool things going for it so if you like it I can see why. But just wasn't what I was hoping it would be.
