I'm not normally superstitious, but I'm willing to make an exception this year. Go Packers!

Yes, but the Texans are slapping around those floridians!

And Dallas is beating up on those detroit liberals

What's the story behind this? Skins lose = W loss?

If so...then...

You might want to explain why this is relevant (sort of) to P&N.

Over the past 17 presidential elections, the outcome of Redskins football games has correctly predicted the winner every time. If Washington has lost its final home game leading into the election, the incumbent party has lost the White House. If the Redskins won, the incumbent party has stayed in power.

I saw it yesterday on either CNN or MSNBC. I don't remember which. They went through every election since the Redskins became a professional team, starting with FDR.

Snopes needs to work on their basic math. They say "15" in the summary, but they enumerate 17 elections.

Since sports came up, maybe you guys can clear something up for me. Oh and I apologize if this is threadjacking. Why are their sports teams named after Indians when we never supported such a thing? Braves, Redskins, Indians, Chiefs, etc. If we started one called the Fighting Whites would you be offended, I'm sure some of the face painting drunken hooligans would surely have a good answer for me.

The correct term is "threadcrapping." Get it right or pay the price.

Probably because they were named in times of less political sensitivity. I think probably Redskins could be a little offensive, but there's nothing wrong with Braves, Chiefs, etc. Or do we need to rename the Cowboys? Perhaps the Norse - Vikings are offended? Perhaps PETA is offended by the use of animal names?

A local high school here used to be called the "Chinks". Back in the 70's it was renamed to "Dragons"

Not being Indian I'm in a poor position to judge, but I see it as a badge of honor, and certainly not a slam. I mean the Cleveland Indians, who I have rooted for 54 years have this mascot with a look like he could control the universe! I always thought I'd never want to meet an Indian in a dark alley because they'd be 10 feet tall with a big scowl. (when I was a kid, anyway). I've met quite a few real American Indians in the meanwile and of course the reality is entirely different, except for JM, who looks TEN FEET TALL TO ME.

With all due respect, maybe we need to know more about this issue, which is basically a blank spot on my hard drive waiting for data.

Well I think real cowboys prolly love their team, and the vikings are all but gone. WE ARE STILL HERE! I'm not really that hostile to this issue, but alot of my family is, and it has kind been a sensative issue when my family gets together.

Ask and ye shall recieve: http://www.aimovement.org/ncrsm/

Even Hank Aaron who wore the Braves uniform agrees: http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/aist/Celluloid/mascots.htm

And for humor's sake: http://www.fightingwhites.org/

And yeah Rob if you met me in a dark alley all you'd find yourself confronted with was a 5'8" kid offering to buy ya a beer.
