If Washington has lost its final home game leading into the election, the incumbent party has lost the White House. If the Redskins won, the incumbent party has stayed in power.

Probably because they were named in times of less political sensitivity. I think probably Redskins could be a little offensive, but there's nothing wrong with Braves, Chiefs, etc. Or do we need to rename the Cowboys? Perhaps the Norse - Vikings are offended? A local high school here used to be called the "Chinks". Back in the 70's it was renamed to "Dragons"

Not being Indian I'm in a poor position to judge, but I see it as a badge of honor, and certainly not a slam. I mean the Cleveland Indians, who I have rooted for 54 years have this mascot with a look like he could control the universe! I always thought I'd never want to meet an Indian in a dark alley because they'd be 10 feet tall with a big scowl. (when I was a kid, anyway). I've met quite a few real American Indians in the meanwile and of course the reality is entirely different, except for JM, who looks TEN FEET TALL TO ME.
With all due respect, maybe we need to know more about this issue, which is basically a blank spot on my hard drive waiting for data.
