For kitty puke I get the large chunks up with a piece of scrap paper, the rest I get with a cloth. Paper doesn't really biodegrade in a landfill. I've dug up newspapers from the 40s that were still quite readable.

Composting would be the way to go, but that's a crap load of towels. Reducing usage, and composting would be the best bet.

They are convenient, but I try to minimize use. Basically use it for cleaning around the kitchen.
