Hey Insane,

I have a honest question for you........

Why do you think people (like me) want to "convert" others? What exactly do you suppose our motives really are?

I think the best person to judge your motives would be you. I wouldn't presume to know you solely from your posts here. Do I have an idea why...of course.

Now...will all you believers do me a favor and visit The Church Of Satan's Website, and take up the calling of the one true Dark Lord?

He obviously thinks you're a brainwashed sap. Thinking that means that by not being a Christian or going to church, he disqualifies himself from the brainwashed and can peer with disdain down upon those who do go...thereby temporarily curing his insecurity.

I'm sure that the major distributors are kicking themselves for passing on this film.
Uh, Frodo, that isn't all profit. It will take far more than that for Mel to make his money back. Not that he won't, because he SURELY will, but that's not all his.

I think everyone knows that it isnt all profit. He'll probably turn a $5million profit by Sunday. The distributor will likely have a $20million profit by Sunday as well.

Hero, please tell me how you know what I think? You know absolutely nothing about me just because you read my posts here. I don't presume to know anyone here solely by their posts on a internet message board. I don't think I ever agree with you here, but for all I know, we might get along if we met. If you notice, I didn't presume to know what his motives were, nor accuse him of any of the stuff you mentioned. Do I have an idea...of course. Did I mention it...no.

You really should try to avoid trying to decide what I think solely from this board...because you would be wrong. I live in NH, and most of the people I encounter would consider themselves Chrisitans, and I have no problems with them at all. I was actually brought up Catholic myself, and I have no problem with anyone's beliefs. However, christians up here don't force their morals and beliefs on others, unlike christians in other parts of the country. I don't have a problem with religion until someone tries to force feed it to me or others.

Regardless, please don't let reality get in the way of you thinking you know me or what I do or don't think or believe....k?

Hey you dodged an honest question. He asked for your opinion and you refused to give it. I don't pretend to know why you'd withhold this information.

Answer his question and I'll apologize for characterizing you if I'm wrong.

Hero, if you read my first reply, I said I don't know him well enough to answer the question. All I know of him is he popped up on these forums a little while ago and started posting a lot of religously slanted posts. That is not enough for me to answer the question. I don't know him (or her), and it would be unfair for me to try and presume what his motives are.

If you want a guess, I would think he likely is trying to convert others to the Chrisitan faith because he believes it is the way to salvation and the only true faith. Is that what you wanted?

Then, given that you'd never presume to know what somebody else is thinking, would you believe him if he gave you an answer that differed from your guess?

I don't know if its what "he" wanted but its what I wanted to know, thanks.....

Your answer is fair enough, but not quite right.
After years of this weighing on my conscience its time to come clean, let the unbelieving world in on the ?dirty little Christian secret?.

I am bound to get in BIG TROUBLE for this and of course all the other so-called Christians will deny it but, here is the real deal, its basically an AMWAY scheme. Every convert we can bring in goes ?under us? in turn if they bring in others we get a cut. Every new convert is redeemable for cash and or gifts of our choosing (limited to catalog items-bummer)

Do you honestly think I would be wasting my time trying to convince total strangers of something so ridiculous for nothing? Wise up man its a giant pyramid scheme.

However, its not to late to get in on it.......

I don't think you would. At some point you'd cease believing him and would default to your own opinion on the matter because at THAT point your beliefs are in conflict and you must choose one or the other. By choosing your own, you're casting his beliefs in the wrong and proclaiming him a believer in something wrong ...i.e. a brainwashed sap.

I think we have a bit of a misunderstanding here. You asked if he told me a different reason for why he wanted to "convert" people, would I believe him, and my answer was yes. I was not saying I would believe him about heaven and hell and such.

If you convert me, can I still perfom sacrifical rituals to honor the dark lord? Oh...and is drinking goat's blood allowed?

Much like crazed teenage girls (Titanic) and hordes of kids (Potter), I think religious people will do wonders for this movie.

Maybe you've forgotten that Titanic and Potter were crazes that hit the big screen and drew in hordes of other people, regardless of the apparent "intended" audience.

I won't even try to deny that this movie must be considered absolutely huge for many christian religions, however, don't kid yourself to think that only christians will be drawing the big bucks for this movie. Its pretty intense, and I've talked to a number of people (religious and nonreligious) who are very interested to see what Mel has put on the screen.

I agree. I know of quite a few Christians that are taking non-Christians with them this weekend. I'm sure it will be used as a Christian outreach tool for "non-believers."

This 5 day opening weekend may approach 100 million! How high can this movie go? Similar to many big box office openers, it will have a steep decline in its second weekend. The third and fourth weekend will be key in determining if it has "legs."
