The Patriot or Braveheart?

I love both of these movies and seen both at least 5 times each. Just curious what others think. I personally like The Patriot more, mostly because it has to do with America.

Both are great films by Mel Gibson. If I had to pick I would go with Braveheart because it is based on fact.

Your right about the Patriot but Braveheart is better.

I think that Braveheart has to do with America as well. Many Scotts came to the US and they suffered as well under the Brittish.

Both are based on fact but the Patriot more so however Braveheart captures the spirit more.

Braveheart is based very loosely on fact; don't think of it as a historically accurate movie.

It's still better. Patriot was the same as braveheart but a few hundred years later!

I personally thought that the Patriot was a rip off of Braveheart and Last of the Mohicans so I didn't think it was that good.

The ending was kind of cheesy when he takes the flag and spears the bad guy with it....take about silly

That's when I know I like a film.

Braveheart is a classic among classics. You can NEVER get sick of watching that movie...it's just awesome. Gibson seems to do well with these epics..he should do some more.

Patriot was also very good but not as good as braveheart...

The Patriot was to much like Braveheart, thats why I dont like it at all, a sad attempt by the writer and director to make a hit movie. Remember when the guy on the horse came riding toward mel gibson and he attacked the horse instead of the man... remember wich film it was in? IT WAS In bOTH.
Thats just my view, I´m probably wrong because everyone has their own view on these movies.

As for now it looks like Braveheart is the winner in the polls 39 - 2 .. I almost cried at the end

Don't get me wrong, I liked the Patriot, but it is nowhere close to Braveheart. I don't think that the Patriot even deserves to be in the same category as Braveheart.

I didn't like the Patriot, too many cliches everywhere. Braveheart rocked though, loved the battle scenes.

Both good films- but of the two I preferred Braveheart

BTW- nothing wrong with Sophie Marcieu, but I personally preffered Catherin McCormack.

Braveheart. No contestation. The Patriot was alright. Good movie that I would see a couple of times. But I don't think I would buy it. Braveheart was the first DVD that I bought.

For some reason I thought the poll was between "Braveheart" and "Platoon." (don't know why I read Patriot as Platoon). THAT would have been a hard decision.

I really liked both but Braveheart was the better film.

Sound effects for home stereo go to Patriot but that might not be entirely fair due to gunpowder.

Sophie Marceau - Lucious in Braveheart but did you see her in that Bond Film? Ill go with Katy McCormack.

After I saw Bravehart I wanted to get back in line and see it again. After I saw The Patriot I wanted go immedately to Blockbuster to drop it if, and never revisit it. The Patriot had it's moments, but was just too darn cliched most of the time. I don't know how many times I groaned, rolled my eyes, and muttered "oh geez..." as they rehashed, yet another, over-used plot device.
