Should we ignore the sitting president calling half the nation garbage? How much do you think that helped Harris?
Smug superiority isn't a popular demeanor, it doesn't play well and is usually rejected.

Honest question - is it ok to call half the nation vermin, enemies from within, radicals, commies, nasty, etc?

All his words, not mine.

Really would like an honest answer.

We have very similar issues as the US. Mass immigration, cost of living, drug epidemic, crime epidemic, housing shortage etc. And Poilievre is similar to Trump, in that he wants to fix those things. So it's nice to see that people are finally voting for common sense, instead of feelings.

Whether or not Trump fixes those things is another story but at least by him winning, it shows it's what the people want. Hopefully he actually does do some good though.
Being able to enjoy watching the most vulnerable people suffer under the Trump administration's wanton cruelty is worth the ass-fucking the Canadian economy is going to suffer under Trump's stupid trade policies? Enjoy your sado-masochist voyeurism, I guess.

This will give extra ammunition for Poilievre as he'll be better able to work with Trump. It might be hard for about a year but it should give him a good advantage. Once he wins things will be better. Just getting rid of the carbon tax alone is going to be a huge relief for everyone.

You won't get an honest answer lol

But.. both parties pull the same "garbage"... Politics has turned into another "sport" like NFL, NBA, etc...
Horrible path that the country is going down

Have you read the absolutely vile and awful things the liberals on this forum are saying about conservatives? Pot, meet kettle. I've been quietly reading the posts on here for the last few months and for a party that claims love and tolerance all I see is hate. And what's interesting to me is that the forum states that personal attacks are not allowed, yet in here they are all left for everyone to read and pile on. It's pretty disgusting to be honest.
You are spot on.

The Carbon Tax is only paid by Corporations and 30ish percent of wealthier individuals. Canceling the Tax will do shit for you.

We pay it too on natural gas, gas for car, etc. Also those corporations just pass the cost on to us. Every step of the supply chain such as trucking pays it, so by the time the end product (Ex: groceries) make it to us the price is inflated. And it keeps going up each year too. The little "rebate" does not make up for it. That's just bait to try to buy votes. The sheep like "free" government money.

You also pay for all the pollution and climate change that occurs from all that fossil fuels burning, through crazier weather, more property insurance claims, mitigation costs, and impacts on population health, but you don't seem to mind that since those costs are externalized, whereas a carbon tax at least tries to collect on those negative externalities from the people doing the burning.

Like, we don't have to ship everything by truck. We used to ship more by rail. We don't have to drive big, inefficient automotrucks all the time to go a few miles at most. These are all choices that have been made long ago by society, before the externalities were fully understood.

LOL the idea Trump wants to fix anything. Especially the idea that he gives two fucks about illegal immigration when he literally hires illegal immigrants.

Even thought we told them, right wingnuts are going to learn the true meaning of "be careful what you wish for" when they go to buy a new TV to watch NASCAR now has a 100% tariff, and they can no longer afford it, combined with the fact their health care premiums have doubled.

NAW, I'm kidding, they will still be blaming Hillary or Obama...

Making life more expensive is not going to stop the pollution. Especially when we represent <2% of world emissions. There are things that could change but they need to happen at the top. Individuals do not have control over things like how things get shipped or where things are manufactured. At the end of the day we still need to heat our homes, drive to work, and eat. There are some things one can do such as getting a wood stove like I did, but that involves a large capital expense. Getting an EV is even more out of reach for most. The carbon tax is basically punishing us for simply living our lives.

Biden could still save us, it's not too late.

If only he wasn't so damn nice.
Never vote for nice again.
If the D nominee isn't calling out the "enemies within" and "military solutions", then they haven't been paying attention to what voters elect.

The pollution is caused by the way y'all choose to live your life. This isn't Captain Planet with Loot&Plunder just polluting for the fuck of it. And the government is directly subsidizing those choices in supporting sprawl, requiring massive amounts of parking, and undercutting railroads by providing government roads.

If you don't want to make collectively better choices, taxes can be a way to encourage those better choices. And with renewable energy and new technologies (which can be subsidized at first with those taxes before they reach price parity or better), we can do the things we want to do without having to burn fossil fuels that are bad for the planet.

It's a collective action problem that we need to address collectively across the board. You can't just claim that you're only a small pisser in the Olympic sized pool that you should be exempt from the no pissing in the pool rule.

Life is to live and be enjoyable. I refuse to live in a pod and eat the bugs. Punishing people for simply wanting an enjoyable life that they worked hard for is a ridiculously selfish thing to do and benefits no one but the ruling class, who own big mansions and private jets and eat caviar and shark fin soup regularly. Their carbon footprint is much much worse than ours.

Authoritarian views like that are why lot of people hate liberals so much. Always wanting to control how people live or punish them in some way instead of minding their own business.
