Hope you're not in an area where said MAGAts would harass or accost you, or worse.

I'd be fine with hilarious, but there are some horrific possible outcomes as well.
The outcomes are absolutely going to be horrific. I just will have no filter when it comes to telling pissed off/horrified Trump voters that the policy is exactly what he said he would do and they voted for the outcome.

We know someone who has a child with severe medical issues. They proudly voted for Trump if the pre-existing conditions coverage requirement is eliminated they will be bankrupt within months. I feel awful for the child but apparently we need a very very painful object lesson.

Not telling you anything you don't know, but two points.

One, the horrific outcomes will affect the entire country, and even the world. Sure, it'll help if you live in a blue state and aren't personally affected but there are plenty of Kamala Harris voters everywhere who will suffer as well.

Second, we got a little lucky last time because DJT is such a shitty CEO and there were some guardrails (John Kelly, etc.). Outside of federal courts and the minority Dems in Congress, we will have no such luck this time. So the limiting factor appears to be the depths of Trump and his team's depravity (hello Stephen Himmler Miller).

It seems unlikely that they'll axe "pre-existing conditions" but who the fuck knows how they'll decide to "pay for" moar tax breaks for corporations and billionaires.

One third and final point. I sincerely doubt the electorate is capable of learning from very painful lessons. They still haven't figured out that Reaganomics doesn't trickle down. The GOP has seemingly mastered leopards eating the faces of voters, over and over again.

But no, I don't blame you for having no filter remaining. If you get to mock people for FAFO in the next 4 years, I'm down with that.

Just like the Dobbs decision, yet there isn't a conservative soul out there willing to stick their necks out and admit the deaths they are causing from backing Trump's Supreme Court choices are on their bloodied hands. This is the kind of stuff that gets erased from their minds seconds after it happens. Like "Oh fuck! I helped cause this tragedy? Anyway, so what's for din din honey?"

The only defense I've ever heard for that is that the bill was full of pork and didn't do anything for the border. It's the go to attack for any bill Democrats pass or want to pass that actually helps things.

EDIT: I heard the same shit said about the infrastructure bill but that didn't stop republican politicians from going to their home states and bragging about getting money for them.
Yup.
I have seen a few gop critters say that

I have said it before the dems need to hammer that home on how the goo is voting against their own people best interest

Some have tried to "correct" me and tell me that I have it "pinned wrong".

I said "No I don't, I saw the election last week".

I would tell them congratulations for placing the gene pool into self cleansing mode.

Yeah but this time they're going to hurt the right people too! Makes it all worthwhile, you know?

I think that is as stupid a question as I have ever heard. LOL

You must have forgotten the sarcasm tag...

Why..

this is a change that you support that will directly impact the amount of money available to the SS.

They will have people come in LEGALLY and pay into the SS System LEGALLY.
Ok first of all I agree that his question was silly, it's like asking Democrats if they're going to voluntarily pay more taxes. However, this is even stupider. Since when are Republicans trying to make legal immigration easier? Democrats are the ones trying to give these people a path to legal citizenship, Republicans want to round them up and throw them in camps. Literally.

I go to the gym quite often at lunch to work out. I see many of the same guys there, and over the years you become friendly and chat even if that's the only time you see them. I overheard a guy I talk with frequently talking with an older woman who was using a machine near me. He literally said "well Martha, do you feel better now? It won't be long and the darkness will be lifted. Our guy is going to fix things and get rid of the deep state, now that his hands won't be tied as much". They went on for a few minutes, apparently they go to the same church.

The entire time I was thinking "my fucking god, I can't talk to this guy anymore, and he seemed so nice. He really believes what he is saying". I firmly believe that while one can be educated, it doesn't mean that they are logical thinkers, they operate on feelings and fears, mostly unrealized fears that exist only in their heads.

Downside, your lettuce will cost $49.99.
I can rip out my trees and grow my own lettuce. I've grown lettuce before, but it will be hard to keep it harvesting year round. Maybe I can can my lettuce like I can my tomatoes.

Lettuce was just an example. Basically any produce grown here will fucking skyrocket in cost. I'm sure you can also grow all of that as well ...

Look into indoor growing. At least during the colder months.

For most people, growing your own food is a hobby, not a good cost cutting measure. It's labor intensive, can be expensive to get it set up, and yields (for the inputs) are relatively low and often poorly timed.
