Fuck the democratic party for fucking this up even worse than 2016.
People keep saying it was the DNC, but it wasn't. Now isn't the time to point fingers, but what happened yesterday is a consequence of Joe Biden deciding to run again. The DNC takes orders from the incumbent president, it doesn't give them.

And even when he did the right thing and stepped aside, that left us in a very difficult spot because Kamala Harris just isn't a top candidate. I think she actually ran a good campaign*, but based on the vote counts we're seeing, she just didn't have a good chance.

In July, there was a NYT columnist (and I'm sure others) who said there was just enough time to have a "sprint" of an open primary so that Dems could have a real contest and pick the best person available at the convention. Obviously this never happened because Harris rapidly coalesced support behind the scenes.

* It's kind of hard to say that with a straight face when you lose the PV to DJT. But we also got destroyed in many Senate races as well, so it's not strictly a Kamala problem.

The more I think of this the more it was overdue.

Liberalism won. It became "the man". You never really know if preventative care works because the goal is for nothing to happen.

Honestly, the country needs (ironically) a vaccine. Our cultural immune system has forgotten why we're a lberal/progressive country in the first place. We take way too much of this stuff for absolute granted.

I think complete MAGA control of government is going to be a helluva wake up call to people who haven't been paying attention. No blaming liberals, no blaming democrats, no incomplete control to put on the breaks to "sane-wash" policy. MAGA is 100% going to take this as a straight up mandate election and run with it, and it will be exactly the kind of enema America needs.

The problem is that the electorate never remembers when Repubs blow up the economy, and never remember that Dems come in to clean up the mess.

Rinse and repeat ad nauseam.

Good luck with that notion. When the Reps controlled the entire government in 2017-18, the Reps blamed the Dems for the Reps' lack of accomplishments. Republicans will never accept personal responsibility for their conduct; it is an alien concept to them.

Just hope we live through this and aren't kowtowing to the oligarchs of the world by the time they are done. Trump is the single biggest national security threat that has ever happened to this country.

I recall Jim Clyburn mentioning last night that there were black people who were voting for Trump because his name was on their stimulus check. That is how fucking stupid the American people are as a whole.
And without knowing the numbers this would be a good example of voter groups that should no longer be catered to. They are not reliable and have not been reliable.

Well said and it’s pretty much what I have been thinking.

So what's the answer? Telling them how stupid they are and calling them deplorables, garbage, Nazis, and fascists clearly wasn't the winning strategy.

Hmm. Suppose they really are stupid, deplorable fascists? Are we supposed to keep quiet about it? More to the point, would it matter if we did? Kamala Harris spent her entire campaign reaching out to conservatives and being very respectful towards them. Nope, didn't work one bit. It was a failed approach. She should have lied way more, but told the truth about Trump's core block, that they ill educated trash, so that some swing types who went for Trump wouldn't want to be part of that voting bloc.

Maybe those idiots weren't belittled enough to understand how stupid they are? Maybe a national sit down, shut up, and listen to your betters campaign would do the trick?

Yes, it's true, stupid people don't know that they're stupid. It's called the Dunning-Krueger effect. And telling them they are stupid won't work either. Some of us just feel the need to speak the truth.

- That was ye'olde Republican party of stodgy old clowns like McConnel and Romney who thought they could control Trump and that he would "grow into the role" and blah blah blah. That's what I mean by "Sane Washing" policy (good ole McCain thumbs down on ACA repeal). The fact that Trump got stonewalled so hard in his first term made his term appear way more successful and coherent than it would have been if he actually got his policy agenda across.

That Republican Party is deader than dead. It's full on winning at all costs, cocaine straight to the dick level MAGA party now.

I fully expect MAGA to throw the filibuster in the trash and move to simple majority rules the moment they run up against any sort of pushback. They know they have a 2 year mandate to remake America and they're not going to waste it on "opposition". Dems are still playing by 1776 rules and MAGA is already in the 41st millennium.

I hope nothing good happens to you, and in fact the opposite. Your family will suffer under a Trump regime because you are not well off and in rural areas, which they don't care about. But there will be other people worse off than you, mostly minorities for example. And you will probably be happy, because no matter how hard you get fucked, as long as some brown people are getting fucked worse, it's ok for you.

Congrats on voting to make America great again. It was the right choice and soon we will hopefully do the same here in Canada. The pendulum is swinging.
Don't worry, your social democracy will be picked apart in the future and replaced with a capitalist oligarchy the same way ours was: it is the lone stable equilibrium of capitalism. You'll love our healthcare system when you import it.

Why do you not care about any of the names MAGAs call liberals? Trump literally calling Dems the enemy from within.

I know it's because you only notice the things that victimize your team, but you enjoy when the other team is victimized.

Actually I think Dems should just let Trump pass what he wants if they win the house. Just let America feel a Trump presidency.
Everyone wants 2020 back. Punishing them with bad policy won't really change their minds this time.

Yes, they may do that, but I doubt Congress will matter much for long. Anything Trump cannot accomplish by legislative action he will do on his own, through the executive branch. Whether it is legal or not. Trump does not consider himself bound by law. And why should he? He will rule as a despot practically from day 1 this time around. He and his oligarchs will rule this country for their own benefit.

Keep speaking that truth, shout it from the roof tops, make it the fundamental issue in 2028. Put every one of those dumb fucks in their place and make it clear their day is done. I'm behind you 100%.

Have you read the absolutely vile and awful things the liberals on this forum are saying about conservatives? Pot, meet kettle. I've been quietly reading the posts on here for the last few months and for a party that claims love and tolerance all I see is hate. And what's interesting to me is that the forum states that personal attacks are not allowed, yet in here they are all left for everyone to read and pile on. It's pretty disgusting to be honest.
You're being called names because of the people and policies you support, things you can actually control. We're being called names because of how we were born, something we cannot change. Insulting a person because of their skin color, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation, is not the same as being called a bigot for supporting bigoted policies.
