Three Years ago the PSU market was dominated with 30.00 -75.00 PSU?s of build quality that varied widely from Gems. To Junk? Two or Three Companies had the High End Market that was the Towering Heights of ?The Enthusiast Market?
During the last three to four years there has also been a Controversy over Bad Electrolytic Capacitors in both Motherboards, and Power Supplies.

This has placed a focus on ?Disposable PSU?s ?and the issues that it creates both from a credibility stand point for the Manufacturers, and the effects that they have in trashing thousands of dollars in equipment.

In three years much has changed, and the Power Supply has become a Mission Critical piece of hardware that can make or break your build.
The Consumer Market has grown, and the Vendor Market that has grown to 10-12 Vendors that put out Top Quality Products. There also has been a tremendous growth in the ?Grey Market? with that growth the water has been muddied, as far as what is Quality, and what is Hype, and Flash.

If we all put our differences aside this can become a Great Resource For All!!
I want to identify who is making Quality Products, and direct our members so they can make informed decisions.

I also would like to identify problematic vendors, and expose them so that we speak united and identify fecal matter, and shady business practices. By doing this it will polarize the issues, and help force change.

Everyone here has their own experiences, and preferences as far as Power Supplies are concerned. This will be your opportunity to contribute data, and information that will assist in informing others, and help us from redundant threads asking the same things over and over.

My Intent here is not to start a flame war ?. So Please Stay on Task? and Contribute factual and informative information that will assist members and others is selection of Quality Power Supplies.

Please try to Follow the Same Format?. For Each Manufacturer, and two or three Links to the Big E-Tailers, and also Manufacturer Main Page, and Product Pages.

Also Major thanks to : Jonny Guru,Motherboards.org, Hard Ocp,Xtremesystems, Hardware Secrets,PCStats, and X-Bit Labs.

okay first of Jonny and others havew determined that therehas been no hit in the quality of the Corsair Units......even under the new OEM!!

That statement cannot be made concerning the new OEM and the silverstone Units.
The Jury is still out!!
All indications are it`s going to be a tough run for the Silverstone peeps!!

Since when has Fortron/Sparkle become a negative in the budget range of PSUs?

I think the point being made is more along the lines of SilverStone using a cheaper OEM but not passing a significant savings on to the consumer.

But yeah.. in budget PSU's you can do a lot worse than FSP, so it's not "horrible." But I would certainly look for a non-branded FSP BlueStormII before considering the SilverStone for more since they are widely available.

It's not like trying to find a SevenTeam ST1000EAD in the US (impossible) to buy for less money in favor of a SilverStone OP1000.

Here is a thread on another board that ranks the PSU's and list the OEMs for some brands...not sure if it is 100% accurate though...the original poster seems to really like Zippy.

We are using both Seasonic and CWT now, depending on which model you are looking at. Also, one important thing to keep in mind is that there is a BIG difference between simply rebranding an existing PSU design from an OEM vs having that OEM manufacture your product based on your design and QC, etc.

Added Corsair PSU's all models above hopefully the quality stays where it is now......

They have become very respected very quickly... and that is more than I can say for the other memory vendors that have gotten into the PSU business.

I heart my Seasonic M12 700. The 60mm fan has never spun up thanks to good case ventilation (Antec 900). It's inaudible next to the rest of the noise from my system, which includes 3 Yate-Loon DSL-12s for intake/exhuast at low speed, one of the same on my TR Ultra 120 at a variable speed based on temp, and a 200mm exhuast fan which is at its lowest setting.

Black, sexy, and rock solid.

Seasonic was going to be my next add-on.... I was hoping that John would do the Antec Line-up.
