I know I'm a few years late to the game, but finally got around to watching this movie last night.

Loved it; felt very Christopher Nolan, went a whopping 2.5 hours but I felt he used the time very well (better than Dark Knight, for instance)

Fantastic acting by both Jackman and Bale

Awesome, awesome movie with a GREAT ending that I totally didn't see coming. Be prepared for all of the ATOT haters to come in and tell you how much it sucked.

A+++ would watch again.

I approve of this thread.

wow srsly? never watched it because it was about magicians.

it has a wacky concept in it, but the movie is just outstanding. I need to watch it again. One of the movies I own on Blu-ray not to watch a lot, but to have available the exact moment I ever feel the desire to load it up. What I want to watch changes so frequently, I've rented a disc from Blockbuster Online and gone over a month without watching it. On multiple occasions. I love movies but infrequently set aside time to watch them, especially when TV shows are on. Summer and winter nights I tend to do most of my movie watching.

I'd actually be surprised. It's just delivered so perfectly, the twists "just work" flawlessly.
Anyone who likes anything from the Nolans' will definitely enjoy The Prestige.

A bit confusing at the beginning, but once it gets going pretty brilliant.

Definitely has tons of plot twists that you don't expect

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the movie, but I wasn't surprised at all at the ending. It was obvious to me at least once it showed the part with all the hats.

Not that part of the ending, of course that was obvious. I'm talking about
the twin thing

It was entertaining while watching it, but it is one of those film's that I think relies a little too heavily on plot twists and doesn't have much of a lasting impression afterward. It was good enough to see once, but I don't think I would watch it again, or at least not anytime soon.

I think they attempted to fit too much in the space of one movie with the pseudoscientific/mystical elements with Tesla.

scarlett johansson is the hottest bitch ever.

and yeah, the ending was insane. but its one of those movies that you cant watch more than once since its all twist based.

better than the illusionist

I agree, but I felt both were incredibly mediocre. The Prestige had too many silly/pointless plot points, and spoiled its own twist way too early. This sums up my thoughts pretty well. I'm still completely baffled how people felt either one had some incredible twist (all I heard about them was the awesome twist endings). They hinged both on the twist, which just ruined them for me. The Prestige was at least entertaining and had some real action. The Illusionist was a snoozefest.

That just felt too slapped on at the end. I guess they thought they were being clever and trying to mislead with the cloning, but the "real" twist didn't do anything for me. Felt like the ending was a huge letdown and made me feel like the rest of the movie was a waste of time.

Now that I think of it, Nolan seems way too interested in plot twists, like M Night. Of course Nolan makes sure to wrap it in a mostly entertaining movie otherwise, but I feel just as big of a letdown with Nolan's twists.

Is that the 2006 Magician movie with Jessica Biel's fantastic ass, or the 2006 Magician movie with Scarlett Johansson's supple breasteses?

That's kind of odd reasoning.

But yes, The Prestige was really good. I only watched it once, so I don't know if it holds up to multiple viewings or whatever, but I really enjoyed watching it the first time.

I was throughly surprised when I watched this movie. I had no idea what I was watching when I turned it on, but was transfixed the whole way through. Great movie.
