I've been here since then and it doesn;t really look all that different. Maybe some different people, but the posts and topics are around the same. It was no better then and no worse now.

Michael

The attitudes have mostly stayed the same, but the willingness to voice them eloquently has severly been diminished by the least common denominator factor.

Agreed. Also, as time moves on and more noobs get online, spelling and grammer deteriorates, resulting in nonsensical posts and moronic sentences.

And that is exactly the problem. Not only does the inanity infect separate threads, which could easily be ignored, it infects the core of what would otherwise be very interesting threads, turning them from otherwise reasonable discussions into idiot practice.

I gotta agree with this one. One of the only disadvantages of widespread Internet use is that the dumba$$es use it too.

or we could flood the forums with posts like yours -- feigning coherency and eloquence through what you probably assume is an expansive vocabulary and a refined grammatical sentence structure. the end result of which is meaningless verbal ejaculate that serves only to impress similar-minded idiots incapable of communication past simple grunts and spasmodic hand gesturing.

NA MEAN? :grunt grunt:

honestly though, i think we just need to realize that we all have our really friendly and charitable days, just as we have days where we feel nearly sociopathic and have no interest whatsoever in empathizing with another individual. and these days have no specific pattern, which means they can at any time run parallel or completely bisect other members' own moods. which is why, with such a large population, you'll find some people totally offended by one thread while others think it's the funniest thing -- and these roles can be completely switched the very next day.

That was probably one of the nicest things I've seen on here. Im just saying that we should be more like how people were in that thread, instead of, as some people said in this thread, being pricks to eachother. I do love coming here and I don't plan on leaving.

you don't visit many forums do you? the conan/robert e. howard fan forum in my sig is one of the best i have ever seen. every now and then there are some heated arguments but there is never any name calling or insults that i have seen.

i haven't seen that dog cremation thread but i'd be willing to bet that someone crapped in it somewhere. even so, every now and then a thread goes through unscathed by the asshattery of this forum.

Sure, many threads in ATOT are crap (I'am guilty of this too)

But I love it, it makes me laugh and that's way I keep returning to it.
