Warranty is a no go. As well as changing the cooler, modding the BIOS, and overclocking WAY past CCC levels, I also threw away the box and knocked off the warranty void sticker.

My fault, I tool the risks and accept the consequences. Now, how can I mod my 680?

The really annoyong thing is that I killed a really good overclocker, but not through overclocking it. That sucks.

How high did you overclock it?

It is possible that you severely degraded it and it was simply a co-incidence that it died when it did.

[removed] Just support how to completely reflash your card somehow

Explain the situation and tell them you accept it's dead if it's dead.
But if they have any idea or help as to how to test this or do a hard reflash of any kind (should it be possible).

No one has any idea how to help 555BUK?

Id still be very interested to find out wether you borked the card with voltage or it is some kind of bios thing.
Id hate to have a working card get nacked by firmware only... -_-

No profanity in the tech forums, please.

I think I have found my sweet spot, 1260/1375 @ 1.225V. 3Dmark 11 is giving me a P7230 score and the temps are below 60 in benchmarking. I did have the screen freeze in Diablo 3 but dont know if it was my card or the game itself. Since the game resumed right after.

None of the flashing tools and bios editing software support the 7 series. If his bios is indeed corrupted there is nothing he can do to fix it if the ati method wont work. Personally I think he just fried his chip.

Ok, i just got my sapphire 7850.

I overclocked it using Trixx and im happy with my current scores.

I only have a big question: My idle voltage stays at the 1.187 V that i currently use for my overclock. Is this normal or do i have to change a setting to lower it in idle?

My clock and memory do have lower idle readings.

Card will automatically downclock itself. Don't sweat it

I got a Sapphire 7850 (non-OC) and installed it today before going to work.

does anyone have stress test recommendations? I don't have any desire to use something like OCCT as a stress test tool.

I decided to OC the GPU to the 1050 CCC limit leaving RAM at stock and set power tune to 20.

I started up Uniengine and with max everything with 8AA and max tesselation and had that running before I left for work.

I'll be using third party OC tools later to change voltage. I think my 7850's stock voltage was 1.183 in GPUz. fan profile is stock. guess it'll be fun to see what temps my card experienced with the stock fan profile.

I'm expecting a Sapphire non-oc after the weekend, so please update your post with your findings with regard to OC/temps/noise etc.!
I'm very curious about what to expect.

The unigine benchmarks make good stress tests
between santuary, tropics, and heaven one of them is bound to expose an unstable system. Also unigine makes the OilRush video game which is based off the same technology (looks a lot like the tropics theme).
I ran that for an hour to determine I needed more voltage

looking through the GPUz log

Uniengine Heaven ran for around 7.5 hours. peak GPU temp was 70C and my room doors being closed, no AC, and windows being cracked open a couple inches probably had an influence. fan speed got up to 44% (~2450 RPM). didn't really notice fan noise from the 7850 but I have some audible stuff coming from my computer, so it just wasn't louder than that.

my 7850's stock voltage is actually 1.138. didn't see any artifacting so will stress test at 1.1Ghz/1.138V some time later.

ASIC is 77.2

I find that Crysis looped to 30 runs is a pretty good stability benchmark. My card is stable in Heaven at 1300mhz but is only stable at 1240mhz in Crysis.

I'm running one at a core frequency of 1220 MHz. Max temperature while playing Battlefield 3 is 65 C. The fan is set to auto and is quiet. Great card. Just wish it was a little bit cheaper, but I couldn't wait for Kepler price competition lol

could you link me to some bios editing software?

Do you think on a futureline it will support the 7xxx and 6xx series?

There is no bios editing software that currently works with the 7xxx cards, and apparently there is no one working on any so it could take a long time.

Yeah he said he's done with it. But he did offer the source code to someone who knows VB 6.0. I do but would not have enough time/interest to go through with it. Especially having to buy a $350-$500 video card to test with.

Hopefully someone will step up. It would still be nice to go through his source code though....

Sorry to post shopping questions here - but it just didn't seem right to start a new thread for them. I'm tired of waiting for a GTX 660 (hear its going to be months before its released) and am trying to decide between a Sapphire HD 7850 and HD 7850 OC. I currently have a GTX 460 1GB @ 875 Mhz paired with a stock Phenom II X4 980.

1. Is an HD 7850 a decent upgrade from an OC'd GTX 460 like mine? I will OC the HD 7850 as well. I do only game at 1680x1050, but like to max quality settings if I can.

2. I'm not sure if the OC version of the Sapphire is binned any better than the stock one. Its only $10 more though. Think its worth it?

1) Would you consider a stock 670 a good upgrade to the 460? Since that seems to be what some people are getting close to..

2) Probably not binned any better.. Now, maybe the OC version has a better PCB, VRMs, cooling.. Which might be worth it.
