I consistently get low Heaven scores running at 1200/5500. They're only 1300 give or take 10 points. Using the standard settings from the OCUK thread.. it can't be a bottleneck, must be something I'm missing?

Could be throttling. Do you have powertune set to 20% in catalyst drivers?

Start at a lower OC and slowly work your way up. You might find a Core and/or mem OC setting that begins to give you slower results.

Yea, I set the board power limit to +20 in Trixx.. I suppose it's possible it's not actually working at 20 if I haven't touched settings in CCC, but I can't get clocks higher than 1050 in catalyst.
I've benched 860, 1050, 1075, 1100, 1125, 1150, 1175, 1190, 1200, 1210 core with memory at 1200, 1375 and 1400. Score goes down with 1400, so I don't think its error correction or anything since I'm running 1375 now. I'm a good 100 points lower than any other benches I can find :/

Memory is over heating if your scores are going lower when you're turning it up.

Well, the score decreases when i go above 1375. Doesnt improve when I got below that, so it has to be something else. This is weird.. Which CCC version are you running? I installed 12.4, but GPUZ says it's 12.3.. wonder if that has any influence.

I use whatever CCC comes with the 12.5 Beta's. Also don't use CCC to overclock. Use Sapphire Trixx

i think my new crashing issues were due to a firmware bug in Crucial M4 ssd. after the ssd was running for 5000 hours there's some weird crashes that start happening. just flashed 0309 firmware which fixes the issue. hopefully this helps.

I gave up on mine and just settle for 1050/5800 1.138 stock voltage + 4% power control. It's the best I can do without having the card throttle itself. I can hit as high as 1200/6000 with 1.25v +20% power control, but the performance I get is lower than 1050/5800 1.138v. The best I can do is 1100/5800 1.150v +10% power without having the card throttle but then Deus Ex Human revolution will freeze up at that setting. It's possible that my cx400 isn't putting out enough juice to support 2500k 4.5g 1.328v with my gpu. I'll go home today and confirm with changing all my CPU/RAM o/c back to stock and only do the video card overclock.

If you find that works, try reapplying the CPU O/C only. AMD cards seem to be sensitive to system memory clocks/errors, or something. I've seen numerous threads where systems were crashing and returning the RAM to stock settings (clocks, timings, volts), the issue cleared up. It's not like there's really a lot to gain O/C'ing system RAM anyway.

CX400 may be the culprit. 400W sounds like it'd be enough... till you see that you get a max of 30A on the 12V rail. That's 360W to supply everything drawing off the 12V rail, which is more than just your CPU and GPU. Try running everything at stock except your GPU and see if that changes anything. If it does, then maybe go a little easier on the overvoltage and you should be ok.

Am I right to understand throttling due to power limits would reduce clocks while the card is under load?

Guys, I need to decide between Sapphire and MSI HD7850 (both non-OC). From reading forums, I get the impression that Sapphire on average clocks worse than it's OC version, so I'd probably go with MSI, but now S. is on sort of a sale here and it's a bit cheaper. What would you recommend? Thanks!

I believe it's ultimately luck of the draw. A user on here bought a powercooler card, one of the cheapest, flashed the Asus bios and was able to reach some pretty high overclocks. I have an Asus card, one of the more expensive, and my OC's aren't that great compared to others.

I would simply look at the cheapest card that has the best cooling. If you're down between those two, I would look at which one has the best cooler.

there's like a $10 difference between the OC and non-OC version of the Sapphire card

because the price difference is so small, I'm pretty sure they use the same components, fan, and PCB and that the OC-version GPU isn't being binned

so I don't think there's a difference between the two other than 1 is clocked higher out of box than the other

does the Crysis benchmark have a memory leak?

the longer I loop the benchmark, the lower the average FPS gets per run

this happens at stock and when OCed

Purchased the MSI 7850 today. Was having a hard time deciding between that and a 670, so hope I'm not disappointed. Will be looking to overclock once I get it up and running.

I personally like and have had great luck with both brands. My Sapphire 6950 and 7950's were/are good overclockers. If it was available I would have gone MSI this time, but since it was not available when I wanted to buy, I went with the Sapphire non-OC and so far am pleased. Have not messed with it much yet, but it easily OC'd to 1050/1450 at stock volts. I hope to apply some voltage tonight and see what it can do.

Has anyone solved the issue where the system hangs when the monitor goes to sleep? The only workaround I have found is to stop the monitor from sleeping in the power options.

I hope AMD fixes this as it's annoying and it should work.

Anyone bought one of the MSI Power 7850 and tried juicing it up voltage\power draw to see if it's more proclaimed Phase\PWM helps with throttling and chip limits?
