Peter King, who will be the new chairman of the Homeland Security Committee will be holding "hearings" on this subject as well as "examine controversial Obama administration policies on issues including closing Guantánamo and civilian trials of terror detainees".

Sounds like those FEMA camps might be eventually useful....

Rep. Peter King, officially named the next House Homeland Security Committee chairman Wednesday, said he will hold hearings to examine what he described as "the radicalization of the Muslim community in this country."
Now the committee's top Republican, King also has said he'll examine controversial Obama administration policies on issues including closing Guantánamo and civilian trials of terror detainees.
King (R-Seaford) said in an interview he plans to invite experts on the Muslim community to discuss "the extent to which the Muslim leadership cooperates or doesn't cooperate with law enforcement and the extent to which prisoners are radicalized by Islamic jihad."
The Muslim hearings will come immediately after a session to get "an overall view" of the nation's security, he said.
King, who because of term limits can't serve as chairman after 2013, said his time with the committee gavel will be "intense. I'm going to try to get 10 years work into two years."
King said since he gave up his committee chairmanship when Democrats took the House majority in January 2007 the nation is more secure from foreign attacks. "It's pretty safe to say that we're much more secure from attacks from overseas," he said. However, "now there is much more of an internal threat from people who are here legally."
One Long Island community leader contacted last night disagreed with King's assessment that the community doesn't cooperate with authorities. Habeeb Ahmed, chairman of the board of the Islamic Center of Long Island, said Muslims do speak out against acts of terrorism but it's underreported.
Many people are unaware of the cooperation that goes on, he said. "It would be very difficult to satisfy a person who has already had his mind made up about my community," Ahmed said, adding that by making such generalized statements, King was helping fuel anger against all Muslims.
"People are on eggshells and he's not doing a service by releasing these statements that Muslims don't cooperate," he said.

News flash... the government already monitors these things. Just because Julian Assange doesn't hand feed you secret information about something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Maybe Republicans think it's George Bush and Dick Cheney going around doing sting operations on these radicalized Muslims, because surely Barack The Islamic Shock Hussein Obama wouldn't fight domestic terrorism.

When we hunt witches, we always find some, but we can always find a bunch of nuts in any American minority or majority minority. After all, its been the white anglo sexton majority that has brought is Ted Kadjinsky, Tim McVeigh, Dick Cheney, and GWB.

Our problem is that we can't tell how nuts they are until they act, and in many cases how nuts they are after they act.

As long as they are in minority I would not worry about getting your throat cut just yet. A priest in Algeria or turkey sure dead meat but not here until you are long gone.

Just because there are White Christian and atheist terrorists doesn't mean radicalization of Muslims isn't an issue.

You might as well say rightwing Christian militia extremism isn't an issue because Muslims do it too.

Funny how violent and radical groups tend to be the ones ostracized and discriminated against.
Do American Muslims really have a history of being violent though? I'm certain you could find a few examples, just like with any group, but I have never heard of Muslim groups in USA being violent in general.

The number of terrorist attempts per group capita greatly exceeds that for any other group.

The statistical proof of that? In general I would say its less than the average for US Muslims?

Surprisingly, the mental ill as a group, have a lower than average incidence of criminal behavior and that is a statistically proven fact. But when we get a real doozie mentally ill nut, they can be a one person crime wave.

The NFL writer for CNN / SI? Whoa, that guy has a busy plate.

I hope he can take his mouth off of Brett Favre's cock long enough to contribute something to homeland security too.

How long before we round them up and put them in "camps"? I shudder to think about it. Once we start harassing US citizens based on their religion, it won't be too far.
