Believe it or not, some of us actually do real work on their PC instead of just play games. Sometimes productivity needs more RAM than WoW
My PC will easily eat 10+ GB when I'm doing heavy Photoshop work.
Does the price going to $6/GB really affect you all that much? If it's real work, you could surely afford that, without worrying over the cost. At 16GB, it's gone up like $30-40, so far. Significant, with a budget <$1000, but not terrible. Compare that cost, FI, with the cost of Photoshop, which can exceed $500.
I'm sure it hasn't stopped rising, so we may be $7/GB or $8/GB, but that's still not really that bad. For awhile, yes, it was cheap enough to just get enough for the whole computer's lifespan. Now it's not quite
that cheap. Oh well.
