Let's have some fun.
Who wants a random gift?
Next person to post in this thread gets it.

Rules:
1 - After you have received a gift you must give a gift.
2 - Gifter pays shipping so if you can't afford shipping don't offer a gift.
3 - All gifts must remain secret until the giftee receives the gift and then the giftee must share what they received.
4 - Computer/electronic related items are encouraged but not mandatory.
5 - Gifter has the right to pick and choose the giftee
6 - Have fun!
7 - Never look a gift horse in the mouth.

Multiple gifters at once can really keep this thread going and at its maximum fun level so chip in if you can. I will check back later in the day. The next person who posts can go ahead and pm me their address and I will get their gift in the mail.

So when Tristicus get your gift Perry, then he'll turn around and send me a gift? Then the next poster will get a gift from me?

Exactly. Hopefully we can get at least a few "gifters" going at once to keep this thread busy.

I'm in, but I see a problem with this system. Let's say five people post a day. If everybody waits 3-4 days for their stuff to arrive from the postal system before sending their own gift out, this thread is going to get very backed up very quickly.

I suggest we send gifts out as soon as someone replies to our post (within reason). I also suggest we quote whoever it is we're replying to. For example, Tristicus just posted under Fhistle, but clearly he's not expecting to send a second gift and get one from Fhistle.

Perry404, I like your idea, but I have a suggestion. How about you post a list of all participants, with 3 columns: 1 column in the center with the username of the participant, 1 "Gave" checkmark column to the left of the participant's name (you could keep this column staggered in order to heighten anonymity), and 1 "Received" checkmark column to the right. You could serve as the intermediary, and any time a new participant joined, he/she would automatically be sending to a random person on the list that has not been given a gift yet. That way there is less waiting (though waiting is fun) and more people giving.

EDIT: Also, it would be cool if you could get "official" approval and post a link to this thread in either OT or FS/FT for greater visibility.

So Crono, are you in on the giving and getting? I need to know whether to send to you or schooleymp.

Yeah, I'm in. Does that mean I get to give to schooleymp?

Agreed. Perry404, could you change the rules to include this and my suggestion above also? It would make it a more streamlined and safe way process, much like the ATOT Secret Santa (which is always really fun).

Perry seems to be MIA right now. If I have time over lunch, I'll edit my post with the list of givers and getters as I see it. My post won't be binding, but I hope it helps organize things a bit.

Sounds good. I think Perry would need a second person to help out, anyways, in case he's gone or whatever. This can be a really fun thing I think if your, Tristicus', and my suggestions are taken and incorporated.

To participate in the giving and receiving, please follow the link in Crono's post below. We'll set you up with someone to give to, and then you need to keep me updated on the progress of your shipment.

As I get word of more transactions I'll add to the list below. If a SENT appears next to the transaction, it means I've been told that a gift is in the mail, but it has not been received yet. If COMPLETE appears next to the transaction, it means I've got confirmation that the gift was received.

Ok, here're the transactions so far:

1) Perry404 to Tristicus SENT 4/15/08, COMPLETE 4/26/08
2) Tristicus to Trey22

See rule #5. It's totally up to the gifter. Everyone has the power to pick and choose to whom their gift goes. As far as adding any other sort of organization to this thread goes...I think it's a good idea but I don't particularly feel like committing to that. If someone else wants to that's fine.

Glad to see so many people getting involved already. This is going to be fun

Also just to clarify it's perfectly fine to have multiple "chains" going at once. What I mean is if five or six people all want to give gifts at once great. This will actually work best if there are multiple people giving & receiving at the same time.

Honestly, I'm not crazy about people picking who they give the gift to without some kind of assurance that everyone who gives a gift will get one.

I'm willing to keep track of this as long as people will do their part to keep me informed. I have a list in my post above if we're just going in post order. If people want to be able to choose their recipients, I'll change my post to have a list of who has chosen to give to whom, and a pool of people who still need gifts.

New gifters can choose anyone they want in the pool, and then I'll mark that transaction up as in progress.

Lemme know what you guys think.
