I'm willing to keep track of this as long as people will do their part to keep me informed. I have a list in my post above if we're just going in post order. If people want to be able to choose their recipients, I'll change my post to have a list of who has chosen to give to whom, and a pool of people who still need gifts.

New gifters can choose anyone they want in the pool, and then I'll mark that transaction up as in progress.

Lemme know what you guys think.
I created a signup form, one that sends me an email with details that can be forwarded to the giftee. I included an option to put heatware and to put whether or not the person registering is willing to send a gift to someone with no heatware. That way only people willing to give to users with no heatware
will give to (Potentially) "risky" users. I will personally insure people with low heat (i.e. 5 or less) or no heat that get approved, so that if they do not ship the gift, I will take responsibility and ship a gift myself to the person who was suppsoed to receive a gift.

I don't think people should be able to choose their recepients, though, and just let it be random (or slightly random, if matching done by location to save shiipping costs). I'm willing to sort through the submissions and send out PMs with approvals and the information for shipping, and I can forward to you DSF and to you Perry, if you want. Then either of you could post a 3 column list of the registered people and if they have given and received yet.

I know this makes things slightly more complciated, but it reduces the likelihood of people scamming the system, and would be more effective at keeping a running list of participants.

Rule #7 added.

Again I'm not personally willing to commit to keeping track of anything although I do have every intention of giving to this thread in order to keep it successful & fun.
I decided upon rule #5 because I think most people are leery of new members and this seems like the most simple way to circumvent that issue. I'm totally open to changing rules however to whatever suits the majority. I'll review the current rules in a week or so and see where the majority opinion rests.

Also I would be careful about committing to covering everyones "unreceived" gifts for them. I started the freebies thread a couple of years ago and if this thread comes anywhere near the popularity that one saw you're probably going to have to sell your house to fulfill that commitment.

Well, I haven't got Perry's gift yet, but since he made the thread, I would guess he sent it lawl.

I will send my gift out the second I get some extra cash or Perry's gift (damn addiction to buying stuff) lol.

I was kind of slow getting around to it and I couldn't decide what to send but I finally did. Two things actually.
Jeese it's hard to keep a secret.

Crono, if you are willing to take on who sends to whom and forward me the information, I'm willing to maintain the list. For the time being I'll take down the shipping list I had above.

If you are participating in this, please do so via Crono's form. I've copied the link here:

Sure, sounds good. It would be good if Perry404 could edit the original post, or if a new thread could be started so that your list would be at the top.

Once we have some people register I'll start a new thread I think. It won't do much good to have the list buried on the second page.

That's why I'm hesitant to make changes to the rules so quickly. As it is things are simple. I think for the moment it needs to be as simple as "offer a gift", wait till we have a few separate gift chains going and see how things are playing out.

I'm still mulling this over. I don't want Perry404 to feel like we've hijacked his idea.

The simplest solution may be for me to post a list of who still needs a gift, and people can let me know who they pick. Then I'll update the list with the transactions in progress.

The more I think about it, the less I think this needs to be something highly structured with email forms and PHP scripts.

Tthe only reason I made the suggestions that I did is because the current rules could make it confusing later on if a lot of people decide to participate, with multiple "gift chains" going on. Anonymous giving, with 1 or 2 people managing the list, would make things be efficient and simple for everyone.

Just fill out the short form (takes 30 seconds or less) and send out a gift to the address you get back by PM. You send a gift, you get a gift. It's a proven good way to do it, as it is the method used for ATOT's Secret Santa. It's simple, and we could have as many people participating at one time. It's really up to Perry404, though, as it's his thread. It's fine if he wants to leave it the way it is.

Anyways, back on topic. Do I contact the person I am giving a gift to (schooleymp) directly for his address?

Have you heard from Tristicus yet?

There's some interest. I think people just want to give before they receive.
That's ok. Haven't heard from Tristicus yet but should soon.

Even though I haven't received anything yet (not being impatient ), if you shoot over your address, I'll get your gift dropped in the mail and keep the thread moving.

Cheers,
