Why not now? A better question is why at all. She wants to upgrade every single residential and commercial building in the United States for energy efficiency. The committee she wants to form would have near-total oversight over industry, mandated to push union membership. She wants a job guarantee program to ensure a "living-wage" job to everyone. And, just in passing, she'll also have universal income and Medicare for all.

This from someone who was a bartender 20 minutes ago.

She's out of her mind. I guess if you have no objection to vast expansions of government as long as your people are doing it, then...well I suppose that's about what I expect from progressives.

Meanwhile, there are many republicans (Rand Paul) support privatizing roadways, firefighting, water. Removing basically all regulations, etc. Yet, I see no bitching about how stupid they are from republicans. At least AOC's proposals have a good goal in mind other than making the rich much richer and everyone else subjects of the rich.

A claim she made, which the video of the event does little to substantiate.

.
She was on the floor and I heard Ahhhs and some booing in the clip. The evidence, people were silent while other Dems voted for Pelosi. The groans came out when she cast her vote. Why the deranged obsession?

I'd rather have someone like her then an idiot Republican who brings a snowball on the floor of the Senate as proof there is no climate change.

Yes and no. Growing up in NY, I’ve always had an awareness of Trump. When I came home from overseas to discover Trump was now a brand and NBC celebrity, I questioned why no one thought to scrutinize his failures in Atlantic City among many others.

I also find it ironic and questionable that only now does the NY AG suddenly have an interest in Trump’s financial entanglements. Where was Albany in the 80s and 90s? What changed I wonder. Just because the NY donor class didn’t accept him doesn’t mean he didn’t enjoy the benefits of swimming amongst them.
Who got your 2016 POTUS vote?

Trump is irrelevant to this discussion, that is your TDS getting the better of you.

No one deserves to be smeared, politically or otherwise, but that is unfortunately the nature of politics.

As for AOC, her story is representative of broader political dynamics that make her a lightning rod for both admiration and scorn. I respect her accomplishment but reserve judgment on her politics. Big ideas are great, I look forward to what path she chooses when it is her own party that squashes them.
Its completely relevant for the sake of comparison. I stated its not derangement when there is a valid reason (so called TDS). AOC has done nothing to warrant the hair on fire and scorn by the right.

My claim Republican obsession with her is the quintessential definition of derangement.

Republicans stalking AOC so they can criticize her wardrobe
View attachment 2182

That was one of the things that led me to blast the people who claim the American right isn't freaking out. In their world, she's simultaneously too poor to be in Congress (as if you needed to be wealthy to enter) and too rich to be a champion of the working class (how dare she wear nice clothes at any point!).

Of course, their issue isn't really her economic status, it's that she's the scariest thing in the world to modern American conservatives: a non-white woman who vehemently opposes favoritism for the rich.

Well, she's an idiot. That's reason enough not to vote for her.

I've no interest in her personal life apart from anything truly egregious.
Here we see the long-term play working out exactly as Republicans planned it to: Constant, subtle reminders that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is dumb, silly, un-serious and therefore obviously not worth listening to or ascension to higher office. Expect a constant dribble of this bullcrap for years to come.

These tactics are gross, despicable - and they work (see Clinton, Hillary). Meanwhile the Republican Speaker of the House:
And this is just a few examples of one of the brighter lights in the Republican Congress. But let's get after Ms. Ocasio-Cortez because she's young and has new (actually old + proven working) ideas.

That's because their assumptions only white males know what's best. Did you see the incoming class of Republicans? Pictures are very telling.

Its not just AOC but women in general have a double standard to fight. Elizabeth Warren has similar problems. Republicans were obsessed with Hillary's hair and clothing. Bernie Sanders is generally considered a likeable grandpa but imagine a female version of Bernie. The age, the hair, the rumpled clothes, the speech pattern.

This exactly.

I don't see anything offensive in the video at all. Just a young girl dancing... Big deal.

Some anonymous person on twitter made a remark and in true progresshevik fashion, it's now turned into mass hysteria about non liberals hating dancing and AOC.

Clearly you've failed to notice how Fox talks about AOC. Why was she the only one booed for her Pelosi vote?

She would be barely noticed were it not the right's obsession with her. Righties hate her wardrobe as well. Obsession on parade and completely unjustified.

I don't think that's true as Trump has always been a voice of reactionary racism, even back in the 80's and before. Members of the NY Democrat donor class don't take out full page ads calling for the execution of a bunch of (turns out innocent!) black teenagers.

I think it all depends on how one is using the word 'class'. He shares some of the raw demographic markers of that group. Seen from a sufficient social distance he appears like one of them. But there also appear to be differences that get more pronounced the closer you are standing (demographically-speaking), and it's equally true that he wasn't really part of that group seen as a social network.

Not sure how many of those differences can be characterised as objective and already-known socio-economic factors and how many are just Trump's idiosyncratic personal issues (like being a narcissist and a racist-who-can't-even-hide-it).

Is he a different social 'type', a member of a wholly distinct strand of society...or is it just that none of the rest of what would be his type likes him very much because he has such a horribly flawed personality? I don't feel qualified to say.

None of the above, but would have gladly voted for Bernie.

In isolation perhaps, but given your avatar and posting history, I think you need to get that TDS checked.

So because I talk about all the shitty things Trump does vs making up nothing that makes me have TDS? I guess we should all shut up and let his lunacy and hatred continue.

Whatever dude. Nothing I can say that will convince you continuing the criticism of this asshole is not derangement. Being black and having a racist as POTUS makes me a little sensitive.

I don’t need to, that is what South Park is for.

I do enjoy calling out crybaby partisan alarmism and disingenuous hypocritical outrage.

I lack the cognitive verbal capabilities to spell it out any brighter than I already have... any more amps and I might set something on fire...
Still not sure what you are getting at. The OP even said he is often accused of TDS, I am simply agreeing with the diagnosis given the symptoms.

Does your amp go to 11?

Yeh, this whole Trump thing is perfectly normal. Nothing of concern going on here.
