I'm definately with Osmo on this one, some of our members are being just as childish as the DPC members we hate. Just because the DPC trolls come in here and start a fight doesn't mean we have to act the same way back to them. Our members need to show constraint not only posting to the DPC forum, but to our's as well. While we can go as low as the DPC trolls, that's not TA, that's DPC. Should a troll come by, just leave them alone, don't reply to them, don't even acknowledge their existance(And I don't mean "Hey X did you hear a whisper" sarcasim either). I've never seen any major member of TA bow down to that level(nor have I seen people blow off legit posts in the fashions that's happened), and I'm not about to let TA start. This is TA: we don't deal with trolls, we don't acknowledge trolls, and we don't start making generizations about other people.

You are preaching love and flowers and hate in the same paragraph. I am at least consistent. In case you hadn't noticed, it was ME (among others including Russ) that were admonishing members to temper their reactions to the DPC, just a week ago.

Now - the question is whether you want to continue to have a battle of wits, or if you want to just get on with business. My point was made - It is you, the &quot;defenders of love and peace&quot; that continue the attack.

We're in this to win. If you can't understand strategy, that's not my problem. Don't talk about having &quot;respect&quot; and &quot;hating&quot; people in the same thread - it's that kind of inconsistency that created democrats.

Granted, Dnet doesn't like it. Granted, we do not like being second. Granted, some of the DPC members were unrestrained with their remarks. I'm still not going to trash a dedicated, organized, hard-working team because a few of their members don't have good self-discipline. Too bad not all our members have been on the Distributed-Computing Team long enough to remember about six months back, when the DPCs took steps to pressure their renegade members to stop trolling our Forum. Anyone else besides myself remember that?

I admire the Dutch Power Cows and I have had few problems with them, either here or on the #teamanandtech IRC channel, perhaps because I have no problem acknowledging &quot;Wow, you had a great day today!&quot; or saying &quot;Good luck with the assimilation of the cyber-cafe chain!&quot; Respect is contagious, IMHO. I hope that if I showed up in their channel or their Forum, I would be respected too, even if a couple members of our Team did something stupid in their Forum. And if they actually assimilate enough cowpower to overtake us, I will congratulate them instead of pouting resentfully. Fair is fair, folks. Let's assume the best of our visitors whenever possible.

I get a little annoyed at some of our member's recations to the DPC. Then I realize:

1) There really have been some troll posts here (but not by the DPC, by alleged members of the DPC)

2) Last I checked, they're not TA, they're individual members expressing their opinion

3) I can ignore their threads if I want

I think that it is fine to &quot;trash talk&quot; the DPC's and /. (btw, with all the DPC talk we're forgetting that the evil /. are ahead of us - we must be intimidated as we stole half their name to threaten the DPC's with) on this board as it is our home board.

I also think it is fine for the DPC to jump in and brag a little when a member here starts a &quot;Congrats DPC&quot; thread like I did a while back. And I have seen the DPC's (and a few others from other teams) jump in and help our members as well.

We are NOT second to the DPC. You fall prey to the propaganda. TA is second only to /. and closing rapidly.

The DPC are Seventh, and might make 5 or 6 by today. By no means are they the competition in this. One thing I can certainly say is that /. hasn't posted a single troll in this forum. Certainly speaks well for the true competition doesn't it?

The MF6 - as all of them were, is a stunt - nothing else. It's destructive, and carefully crafted to create havoc. (hint.. read &quot;The Art of War&quot When everyone plays by the same rules, then it's a level playing field being measured by the same ruler.

Never once, nor will I ever enter the GOT forum and start swaggering and boasting about how great the Borg is. I have enough respect for &quot;their territory&quot; not to do so. What a number of us object to is the double standard. You don't see all the PM's that go back and forth. There's a significant amount of support for those of us who object to being trolled in our own forum.

Nobody has been rude to the &quot;DPCs&quot;. Some have simply reacted to some individual members of the DPCs who brought it upon themselves. There is a huge difference.

I would also point out that no member of Team AnandTech has ever trolled their forums, as some of their members have here. Now, that would be rude.

Russ, that sounds like a US country only post, lets not go there.

I am actually going to side with DanC on this one. We did/have not gone into DPC's forums and trash talked.

Let me give you some general history:
1) DPC foresees it's future of being able to contend with us in the dailies, they come over here and start off on the wrong foot by gloating saying 'beware', etc.
2) In our own forums we laugh our asses off as we look at the dailies.
3) DPC grows, soon they beat us on the dialies on occasion, we start to notice the threat and our sigs change from the impedning doom of /. to the impending doom of DPC. DPCers come in to gloat.
4) DPC grows more and beats us regularly on the dialies, DPCers come in here and gloat.
5) Present time

notice the one constant thing, they come in here and gloat. Then they have the gall (speling) to get angry at us bad mouthing them in our own forums. WTF, I can not remember a single Mac team member or /. team member taking offence in our own bloody forums. That to me is DPC's major failing of logic. These are our forums, we tolerate you as visitors, welcome your questions (I can remmeber sysopt/tweakit members asking questions here too), even welcome the occasional banter back and forth. But you had better believe TAers feel attacked by these POS posters from the DPC. These members are defending our forums, just as the old in before the l0ck posts occured on different forums. Much as I would dislike a mod from coming into this forum, if it would get rid of the fscking DPCers gloating posts, so be it. As I recall, how many negitive posts did we have when we started beating /. ? Just because the opposing team now shows their face in here should not matter. Do we call DPCers names behind their backs, or call them names knowing full well that they can see these posts. I for one believe that the DPC brought this on themselves. I personally think the anti DPC threads, pro TA threads are patriotic in a way. And as for turning the other cheek when a troll comes in, it is just as easy as ignoring DanC's and other's anti DPC posts. Not to mention turning the other cheek on the recent miniteam posts... Do as you teach damnit.
