The Ring DVD $15! @ BB

Picked up a copy of The Ring for $15 at BB yesturday...great scary movie. Watched it the first time through and something wierd happened any one else get this?

What happened?

For people that have seen it in the theaters....when I watched it on DVD half way through the movie it changed, after she finds out what is going on the movie ends up in a movie rental place on the shelves and then ends...I had to go back and do chapter selct to finish the movie. I'm gonna play the movie through again and see if it was just a glitch.

Yeah, there isn't a special feature section. Looks like their using the tmp folder or something to determine when it is first viewed on the comp.

There was a great science fiction tv show a while back called "7-days". Frank Parker used the password "conundrum". I found it ironic that both, 7 days and conundrum, were both used in this movie. Either, the writer of the movie thought of this and wondered if anyone else would pick up on this, or it is a complete coincidence.

I've seen the Japanese version and it is NOT way better. Japan may make better cars, electronics, and other things, but they can't hold a candle to Hollywood produced movies. There are no other countries in the world that makes better quality movies than the US. IMHO of course.

The video store scene is from the deleted scenes section (they call it "don't watch this"). Guess it expands more on the movie version about what they did with that copy they made in the end.

BTW for those of you who might able to use this, my gf had a gift card from Blockbusters and was able to get them to PM BB.

Dare to disagree. Hollywood has not had many coherent scripts for long time, Golden Age did. This kind of moive does not require big budget -- tons of special effects and loud noise, namely over-producation does more bad than good.

Well, we'll just agree that we have our own opinions. I'm not sure what you mean by "coherent" scripts, but I also think it is based on personal opinion. My main gripe is that you said that the Japanese version was "WAY" better than the US version when in fact, they are almost identical movies. How the Japanese version can be way better is beyond me. I know a few people that also think the Japanese version is way better, but they have the notion that since it's Japanese, it must be better attitude. Too much anime watching I guess. Even before the most recent Japanese version of the movie had come out there were other productions of this same movie that were made in Japan and in Korea based on the same storyline. I'm still gonna say the American version is better than the others that I've seen.
