so, what do you think of the RNC so far? My impressions of Day 1:

Ann Romney: Let's talk about love. I love love :$
Chris Christie: I hate love! Respect is better!

Evening program of speakers seemed disjointed to me.

Chris Christie (seems like very talented politician, but his speech just screamed me, me, me) seemed to overshadow Ann Romney and make her an afterthought for today's talking points.

Listening to tepid cheers to this and that, almost seems like there is a latent civil war brewing below surface among various factions of this current edition of RNC.

And Romney himself was a complete afterthought.

His best moment was not standing up when Chris Christie was speaking and Ann wanted him to stand up. Look on his face was that of a cold blooded killer (figuratively speaking, of course) alpha male Wall Street trader scoping out Christie, and Romney thinking to himself, I'm going to rip your heart out, mate.

The look on his face was priceless, and at least to me, was the best light I've ever seen him in (still think he would be a horrible president, particularly when dealing with foreign leaders).

Gordon Gekko, but without even a hint of the humanity and like-ability Michael Douglas brought to the character.

Tepid cheers. Completely unenthusiastic speeches. Really hollow material all around.

A little surprised this is the best the GOP could do.

Agree RNC? Disjointed. It feels more like a wake than a celebration. Aren't they supposed to be telling voters who they are, what they stand for? Can't they find something that the delegates can get excited about? Or even something that the opposition can get excited about opposing? Ann Romney has a lot of nerve talking about her medical problems while her husband is insisting on destroying medical care for normal people. The TV coverage is stupid. I'm switching between CNN and Fox, looking for something that will make me feel good about these people, just in case they win the election and we get stuck with them as leaders.

I'd even enjoy some Prince Harry-type Vegas partying. Can't they find at least one Republican who can spice this thing up.

I figured the weather issues would bring out some humanity is these guys. Didn't expect Ryan and Romney to start shoveling sand into sandbags beside Jim Cantore but there is the opportunity for them to make some kind of good impression.

Every time I tune in it's old socially conservative white people ranting about how America used to be great, that Obama somehow vaguely destroyed it, and that voting for Rom-bot will somehow fix that...without any concrete plan.

Demographics are really going to derail whatever is left of this party in the coming years.

I thought Dr Condoleezza Rice sounded more presidential then all of the speakers put together.

She should have been in the VP slot but there is an obvious problem. Being wed at the hip to religious conservatives has its handicaps.

They keep using the words PLAN and DETAILS

this close to the vote there are no plans nor details coming from the GOP

Its like if they SAY the words....people will just believe them.

Edit: Oh and a whole lot of rewriting history. And that just pisses me off

Ryan:
“Here we were, faced with a massive job crisis – so deep that if everyone out of work stood in single file, that unemployment line would stretch the length of the entire American continent,” Ryan said. “You would think that any president, whatever his party, would make job creation, and nothing else, his first order of economic business.”

He went on: “Instead, we got a long, divisive, all-or-nothing attempt to put the federal government in charge of health care.”

The first order of the Obama Admin was TARP and ARRA. And ARRA was fought TOOTH and NAIL by the GOP with sooo many concessions by the part of the Dems to get economic relief to the country.

The only demographic that is going to derail the GOP is the bias media.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/08/29/Shock-ABC-News-Romneys-Party-As-Black-People-Die
Meanwhile Obama is campaigning in Iowa.
Let's not also forget that CNN, msnbc, abc, and even PBS all either didn't show or cut in and out of every speech made by a "minority" at the event. Including former Black Democrat and 2008 Obama supporter, Artur Davis. I guess the lame stream media doesn't want Americans to see a black man off the democrats plantation???

There's no denying that the media in our country for the most part is liberal biased and pushes agendas instead of report on them.
There's no money in regular news. Only hyped up bullshit.

You can cut out all the paid minority speakers that you want too. What shows a true picture are the delegate demographics and it was basically a sea of old white people.

Factcheck on that speech. That fucker was lying through his teeth at an amazing rate. Not talking about campaign promises either. Just full on lying about what actually happened in the past. Too bad GOP will still slurp that shit up without missing a beat.

Those facts are liberally biased.

I also find it hilarious that Obama's whole point from the "you didn't build that" speech, We built it, is plastered all over the RNC.

Face it, the smarter members of the GOP know they're probably going to lose this one. It's the reason Christie Kreme gave his 2016 stump speech. I do agree that mask of rage on Romney was priceless, though.

Anyone see any serious pushback from Obama campaign spokespeople?

Cable tv channel commentators actually at convention see gidd after Ryan speech, but almost seems like Obama campaign is content to let Romney have his moment (because they know it is not a game changer and won't last?)

Asking about the RNC, is like asking if we want to accept a lie as the truth.

The republicans and the democrats are both lying to the people. The fallacy is us debating which lie is better then the other.

TAMPA, Fla. — Mitt Romney’s image received a 5-point bump after the Republican convention’s first day, according to data presented at a Wednesday breakfast sponsored by The Hill at the law offices of Holland & Knight.
Romney had a 43 percent favorable and 44 percent unfavorable rating in nine battleground states heading into the convention, according to an average compiled by RealClearPolitics.

A survey conducted by Wilson Perkins Allen Opinion Research in nine battleground states Tuesday evening found Romney’s favorable rating among likely voters had jumped to 48 percent. His unfavorable rating dipped to 39 percent.

The way these things work is that the democrats basically wait for their own convention for when attention is on them, and give their rebuttal that way.

Also, if the media is going to attack Ryan's speech anyway, why should they look like the bad guys?
