Did anyone else see Linus' partial review of the Alienware ThreadRipper? Only a couple benches, but the Alienware system is poor at cooling, I guess:

Oh, how a NICE 16C/32T ThreadRipper would go, with my soon-to-be-gigabit internet connection, combined with my Nightly Firefox 57 64-bit browser, with the new multi-threaded / multi-process Rust-based engine technology.

(Testing it out now on my Ryzen 5 1600, with 75/75 internet.)

So far, so good, but no real noticeable performance improvement over Waterfox 54.0.1, on my 10/1 internet connection. At least, it's fairly imperceptible.

But the new Nightly Firefox 57 IS more responsive, typing in these text boxes on the forum, that was one thing that always seemed to bog down. I think, barring any huge bugs, I'll stick with the Nightly, until Nov.

Don't see the TR 1900X listed for pre-order anywhere, is it's release delayed? Having an upgrade path to a 7nm CPU might be a nice thing to have.

Edit...with more cores and greater expandability.
It's release is at the end of the month. Only the 12c and 16c X versions for now.

Interesting article from Nexus about thermal paste application methods on 1950X. It seems its not a trivial thing with actual "compatble" AIO. OC is at 4.0ghz all cores btw

So these "compatible" AIO make the job decently (they use a Kraken x62). But I think that to push these babies to the limit, new and specific coolers are a need. I am interested to see too the Noctua TR air coolers perfomance. IMO it will be better (at least with the 140 fan model) than with these AIO.

I agree. Thats why I got the 360 with 6 fans in push/pull, but I will still buy the noctura 140 when its available to compare the abilities.
Not a great picture, but there are 3 fans below in push, and 3 outside the case in pull.

SO ready for my CPU/motherboard, all the parts are even mounted (the ones that can be). I can't wait. Newegg has not shipped yet, but I was hoping they would do it before the 10th, since I won;t get it for at least 3 days after its shipped.

That looks ridiculous. It would not fit push/pull all inside? I have run top mount push/pull in a few different cases and never even considered sticking fans on the top outside my case.

No, it won't fit inside. I don't care what it looks like, I want "full power" cooling. If I can get by without the 3 outside I will remove them. If the Noctura shows up and works better, the AIO will go away. But for now I am worried about function. This is a Lian-Li case, so its not cheap crap, made for EATX motherboards.

TR is looking to be a multi-threading beast. Should please many persons. Especially for the price.

Looks like fast 3600 memory is the way to go for this bad boy. Might see that ST score bump to 5k and MT bumped to 60k with good RAM. Going to wait to see how RAM affects performance before getting any RAM kit.

Does Cinebench report windows 10 correctly? if not that screen is with windows 8 - wouldn't windows 10 up the MT performance even more?

It doesn't. Windows 8 is the newest Windows Cinebench r15 knows of.

Massive scores, 1950X is going to be a winner . Also gaming performance with 3200Mhz RAM

It shows how far Ryzen has come, this has nothing in common with AM4's launch, it's great.

Ryzen loves tight, fast RAM. These aren't the best timings nor the fastest memory... with enough memory tweaking that could easily be 3500 points or higher at the same 4.1GHz. Hell, faster RAM will make even more of an impact here than on AM4 because you have IF connecting both dies as well!

Reviews on thursday are going to be fun to read.

Ryzen Threadripper is clearly turning out to be a monster.

http://wccftech.com/amd-threadripper-1950x-oced-tested-otherworldly-performance/

Since AMD is picking the best 2% of Zeppelin dies we are seeing some excellent overclocks at very reasonable voltages. 4.0 Ghz on TR should be as easy as 3.8 Ghz on Ryzen 7. I am just wondering what Zen on 14nm+ is going to be capable of in 2018. If Pinnacle Ridge can get a 10% improvement in base and max clocks they are going to be very impressive. The real challenge for Intel will arrive in 2019 with Zen 2 on 7nm. Thats when Intel could be at real risk of losing the desktop CPU crown.
