Yes, and I've ran into ones that knew their shit and ones that don't know how to install Windows from scratch. There are way more IT workers then there are positions.
I was just browsing chicagoland jobs. Really not hard though, go to your local CL postings for IT positions and laugh at the salaries offered.
I'm thankful for my government IT job, I'll probably be holding onto this job for about 50 years...
Tell me about it. I applied for a job and I have MCSA and VCP 4 and they replied back to me saying I am a good candidate for 13-16 hr lol
It's just not as valuable anymore. Nerd is the new jock. I see middle-school kids posting insanely complicated computer video tutorials on Youtube. It's just reached the point where everybody's doing it, so our IT salaries are taking a huge hit
Yup. Add to that, outsourcing of the jobs to India and what not.IT professionals are a dime a dozen.

I don't know where you guys are coming from. Quality IT people are very hard to find and are paid very well. But they are experts at certain areas and demand a high price. People that can walk into an environment, plot the direction of a specific technology for them and tell them how to realize efficiencies or business integration through technology.
There is a big shortage of good IT talent these days and that's why the good ones are paid so well, there's too many positions for the people that can do it. Couple that with business have been putting off capital projects the last 18 months and yet the work still needs to be done I'm seeing the market getting ready to explode here soon so be prepared and get those resumes ready because it's coming fast.

Who needs experience when you have google.
