The college I attend asked for the ACT, which seems to be more important here in the west. I can't even remember what I got but it was allright I guess. I f I took it now htough I bet I could rock the math atleast, probably the english also, at 17 though, i couldn't even remember the night before.

I took it when I was 7, I was drunk, high, tripping on acid, and had just smoked some PCP. I only made a 1580.

SAT's aren't a measure of intelligence as much as they are a measure of your ability to take standardized tests (I feel the same way about most IQ tests).

that said...

1,400. 760 verbal, 640 math. that's a nice little difference there good thing I was an English major. lol.
and 143 on the IQ test

I cant actually say thats entirely true. Its a half truth at best. AP Classes may be at an all time high, but only 32% of high school graduates are academically ready to go to college. Its no fault of our generation, we arent the ones who control public policy. Education has been on a decline since the late 1970s.

Although I'm not going to disagree with you, despite being part of the supposedly dumber generation, you have to realize that it's not the fault of kids being dumb entirely (if these statistics are valid). I've had a bunch of very, very poor teachers throughout the years, and I'm in what is supposedly a pretty good academic school (better-than-average public school).

Like I said our generation isnt in control of public policy, and the education system has been decling since the late 1970s.

Education is what one makes of it. Which isnt much for most of our generation. Anyone that doesnt have a handicap can take remedial courses and go on and do well, if they have the dedication. Most of our generation lacks this dedication and motivation, and wants instant gratification.

Agreed. Don't blame teachers, your school, your parents, or anyone else other than yourself. If you CAN go to school, then you have no excuse. There's always a way to make up for a shortcoming. What I hate more than just about anything is the shirking of responsibility. Sure, it's the teacher's job to prepare his/her students...but if you don't feel that your teacher is up to par, then read the book on your own. No one's stopping you from going out and learning on your own. The focus has just shifted too far away from students having their own motivation to learn, and too much onto trying to find someone or something to blame.

Got a 1200 in 1997... I didn't study at all though, and I got into the school I wanted to... so I'm indifferent about the SAT.

My math skills blow btw

They have a new SAT out that consists of 2400 points. They also have an essay and Algebra II on it now. I think they'll dumb it down soon, since I know the people who took the PSAT. They're very bright, but they all scored very low on it. *Shrugs* So I guess I beat you all by scoring an 1800, now don't I?

Very sad considering that I despise English, and I'm going for a math major in college. Careless mistakes really kick my butt on the SAT...I mean, try this: 3x + 6 = 9

x=1. Obvious, no? Obvious unless you read the + as a - and got x=5.

740+760=1500, math boy.

Stop discrediting kids today. Have you even taken a new SAT recently? They aren't easy and we are studying much harder for them than any prior generation did. Almost all of my friends took prep classes and have a stack of books to assist them on the test.

I'm tired of having to listen to all of the past generations say we are lazy. AP classes are at an all time high and making college is harder than ever.

Then why did they have to "recenter" the scores?

Hahahhaa. What he said. (although I suspect I took it a few years before that)
