i'll start with the bad news first...
last night my #1 cruncher went down indefinitely. i was in the process of cleaning up some virus crap and a system restart was required. unfortunately during that restart, the screen went black and stayed that way. not only will Windows not boot, but my system won't even POST. i don't think its virus-related in any way (despite having had a virus prior to restarting) - rather i think i may have corrupted the BIOS by hitting the reset button too many times consecutively (F8 doesn't bring up the boot menu on my mobo like it does on many others, and so i had to reset the system several times to look for how to get into safe mode before the POST text disappeared from the screen)...after about 4 or 5 resets within a 30-second period, the system would no longer POST. needless to say this is going to cripple my Milkyway@Home and SETI@Home output (this is my one host w/ a GPU right now) and greatly reduce my Einstein@Home, LHC@Home, and Test4Theory@Home output. i have no idea how soon i might have this host back up and running...
the good news is that i do not plan on diverting any resources away from the Correlizer project that runs on my other 6-core host. as much as it pains me to see my production go down dramatically in the projects i love most, i made a commitment to TA and the Correlizer project, and i don't intend to break it...not that my Correlizer production is critical (mine pales in comparison to some of the top Correlizer crunchers), but every little bit helps...so i'll see you guys on the other side of 10,000,000!
