Can't you suspend the seti project in BOINC?


I was attempting to overclock the 1055t, but don't have the patience right now. I have some cheap ram so it will take a bit of work. Simple overclock to 3.15 for now.

yes, that would be the simple solution. however, if those S@H tasks are anywhere near their deadlines, it wouldn't be wise to suspend the project...

Was messing around to use the Ubuntu Wubi installer to boot into linux on my Win7 machine since I noticed that correlizer likes linux a lot more than Windows.
The Nvidia drivers were a mess with Ubuntu. Had a hell of a time getting my dual screens to work and became too frustrated so I just uninstalled.
Maybe I'll try again this afternoon.

I did notice that I was getting about 24 minutes on average per WU with my Phenom II X2 (4 cores) under Win7x64 and it is at 16 minutes per WU under Ubuntu x32.

Both set at the same speed. I also received a lot more invalid tasks with the very slight overclock in the Win7 environment. Haven't had any now that it is in Ubuntu.

hmm, my Windows OS seems to like Correlizer tasks just fine...

~16:07 for my X6 1090T @ 3.7 under WinXP 32-bit

23:14 for my X4 @ 2.7 under Ubuntu.
15:48 for my X4 @ 3.4 under Ununtu.

Guess I will fight with Wubi again to see what kind of times I can get.

There is a win64 beta app that should push those times down by quite a bit on that x6.

Athlon x2 +5000 @ 3.0Ghz is taking ~21 mins per WU.
Phenom II X4 945 @ stock is taking ~17 mins per WU.

In both cases give or take several seconds...

The Athlon is on Windows Vista SP2 x64.
The Phenom II is on Windows 7 SP1 x64.

My proposal is thet the race ends latest November 17, e.g. 24:00 UTC. The reason: November 18 starts the next challenge in the PrimeGrid Challenge series - and I want to protect my postition. Please post your opinion.
I have posted a similar question in the SG-forum.

BTW: when will the cross-forum bantering start? Please be all very polite, full of black humor, full of ... what ever is fun ...

that's fine with me - i'm all about supporting the cause and the TeAm, but i do prefer my other projects. another 18 days of partially devoting one of my machines to Correlizer doesn't seem overly long at all.

I'm going to stick with Correlizer through the end of November. I'm trying to get my 1100T to the top of the list for RAC. Mumps[MM] added a 24-core Opteron that is doubling my production, so I don't know if he will catch me before I make the top.

How long should we race?

Well, I guess I should admit here at some point that I've already stopped. Why? SIMAP is back with work. Depending on how long they have work I may not return to this race at all - moving straight to the PrimeGrid race. And then I assume we'll still be doing the F@H race in December.

Fortunately, I was running just one lone quad-core CPU on this race. And my results are continuing to trickle in as they're verified.

I am going to vote for this in my case.
That sounds like a reasonable time frame.

in the meantime - rally all the troops you can and spread the word about the correlizer race!

I studied at the Goethe Insititut in Colombia but unfortunately my vocabulary and practice are rather limited. I can however understand a good part of what has been posted at the SG-Forum...I just can't write it or speak it as good.

My 1100T was on pace to pass your RAC, but Mumps[MM] has already passed me and should pass you in a few days. Over 10K/day production from 24 cores.

I have switched the rig to SIMAP for a few loads to check the OC. Then I'll be back to challenge your RAC!
