Who wants to chip in on something like this:

Product URL: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16859105794
Product name: HP ProLiant DL585 G7 Rack Server System 4 x AMD Opteron Model 6174 12 cores 2.2 GHz 64GB 601362-001

...and for something a "little" cheaper:

Product URL: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16859105791
Product name: HP ProLiant DL385 G7 Rack Server System 2 x AMD Opteron Model 6174 12 core 2.2 GHz 16GB (8 x 2GB) 573087-001

Saw a post the other day, at Microcenter you can build a thuban x6 rig for ~ $230 right now. That has to be the best bang/buck for moar cores.

Yeah the task page is great, it has lots of good info...I don't know how long it took for me to load but it was more than 5 minutes, I think.

I hope the new members start to get their WUs validated and start to count.

I noticed SG has a new member 'biancaw' who is pretty productive.

We are the AMD to their Intel. They just keep throwing more resources at us until they "win". Our only hope is that we push them enough that their overall goal is threatened and they stop throwing moar cores at us!

Just something to mention...

Please do not bump the Correlizer Recruiment threads at the CPU and Video Cards forum. The mods asked that we do not do that. They rather see the community there move the thread up as they comment or participate.

Just in case...

Arigato.

any idea why member 'busydude' cannot get WUs from Corrrelizer.
He posted in the CPU forum recruitment thread asking for some help and I have given some information but I am not sure what else I can do.

According to the Correlizer server status there are roughly 6k WUs ready to send.

What I'm starting to suspect is this. Users are not accepting the old apps but the server wants to send the old apps out first before sending out never before sent new apps. I changed my settings to accept anything from correlizer and now I'm getting a steady stream of WUs.

I asked him to make sure his "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?' option is checked...I would that takes care of it, no?

Wow, if they went from 37k available earlier to 6k now then the TeAm + SG appear to have wiped out the project!

Maybe we should plan a new race on a project that is large enough to handle all of us. Would einstein@home or WCG work?

I am trying to double check the figure I saw but I am pretty sure it was like 5895 or something in the vicinity.
It is taking forever for the server stats...

All of my boxes have a steady stream now. Was getting a little nervous last night when 2 of them only had a queue of about 15 each.
Bumped my X4 from 2.7 to 2.97. Not a huge overclock, but it's my HTPC and I just don't have the patience to get it higher.

I added a 2 day work buffer to all my computers just in case in the event of WU shortages.

It looks like they're down to only 90 tasks ready to send. Pretty weak.

Do you folks who've been crunching this for a while now think that the supply might return?

It should return. Could be a matter of when as the people who run this project probably didn't anticipate a showdown.

Is it bad if I install BOINC, connect to Correlizer, download a bunch of WUs, and then reformat the computer, without disconnecting from the project? I assume that those WUs will be recycled given enough time?

I was having a boatload of trouble with my newly-christened AMD quad-core cruncher,
turned out to likely be a bad USB card reader, was really screwing up Win7's driver layer.

Seems to be fixed, though, and I'm running it on Correlizer full-time now.

Joining the TeAm! Adding my SB and my 6970s

Edit: nevermind, looks like only my CPU is in on this. Looks like core count is all that matters. GPUs will continue to rock milkyway or primegrid.

I just loaded it up on my game box at home, 5.0Ghz 2600K.

Now a question : I know from benchmarking that 8 threads isn't as productive as 4 on full load crunching, so I want to limit the BOINC client to 4 threads. It runs 8 now I guess based on logical cores. Can I do that without disabling hyperthreading in BIOS?

EDIT: Not sure how this compares, mine just ran 8 tasks in parallel, and finished in 16:22 (Correlizer Applications Work Units) - so I'd like to see how it rolls through 4 at a time.

My 2500K @ 4.5 goes through 4 roughly every 10 minutes. So, your 2600K @ 5GHz should finish em in 8-9 minutes. I'd say HT is giving you a little something extra. Might be the extra L3$ helping too, dunno.

this is running win7 x64

welcome to the TeAm! glad to see you're still putting your GPUs to good use even though they can't be used for the Correlizer race. i'm a Milkyway@Home and SETI@Home Astropulse guy myself when it comes to crunching on my 5870.

You could be right

I rebooted with HTT disabled, and 4 threads are running now, and they aren't making the same progress by the looks of it.

I incorrectly assumed that disabling HTT would help keep each core pegged as it does in some other types of workload, but this workload seems to lend itself to interleaving, so there must be some interleaved memory access/waits; so HTT is going back on!

Thanks, now that bitcoin is not a profitable enterprise I have some hardware I'd like to do something useful with. I sold pretty much all of it except for what I can use for gaming or have some unique place to host it. I have a machine with dual 5870s left over from bitcoining. I got a sweet deal with hosting it in a data center for free through a friend. I'll probably add that machine to Milkyway or PrimeGrid
