My fastest X4 is sitting idle! Ouch. No WU's, even though the server says there are some 40 available.
No idea how long it has been idle either. Checked it about 6 hours ago before I went to sleep.
EDIT: and the downside is that it is only going to be a high of 38*F today with a low of 27*F. I need all rig's at full load to keep it nice and warm inside.

Welcome and Thanks for helping!!

TA has now 42 active members in this Correlizer race!

Now we just need some WUs...seems like these are getting scarce...

when i first started participating in Corrlezier, i saw that new tasks were being downloaded 14 at a time. not realizing how often the Correlizer server likes to send out new tasks, i soon had a queue of ~2000 Correlizer tasks before i knew it. so i set "no new tasks" for the project, and my CPU has been crunching through the queue at a rate of ~300 tasks per day. i'm now down to only ~200 tasks in the queue, and have set the project to receive tasks again....something tells me i should have done this sooner, b/c i'm not getting any new tasks. i know my settings and preferences are all set correctly, so i guess i'll just have to wait and see what happens with Correlizer task production just like you.

in the mean time, if your CPU is sitting idle b/c there is no Correlizer work to crunch, you should put it to work on another project so that it doesn't sit idle. just assign it a lower resource share than Correlizer - that way it'll crunch a secondary project when there is no Correlizer work available, and it'll give Correlizer work top priority when it becomes available. i've got my CPU crunching Einstein@Home, LHC@Home, and Test4Theory@Home when its not crunching Correlizer. while Einstein@Home doesn't seem to produce CPU temps as high as Correlizer, the CPU only runs a few °C cooler and should produce enough heat to keep your place warm.

*EDIT* - it appears i'm getting new Correlizer work...it just isn't coming nearly as fast as it was some days ago. if i had to guess, i'd say i'm crunching through tasks faster than i'm receiving new ones...

Hello Sunny...

I still have plenty of Correlizer WUs to go through but I'd like to know how to actually achieve what you've mentioned so WCG can pick up if Correlizer WUs are no longer produced.

Thanks

about 200 tasks lined up here, finishing 6 in ~11.5 mins

still need to get the 2 quads going, maybe after work.

go to your account at the Correlizer website and click on the "Correlizer preferences" link. you'll notice that the first changeable preference is "resource share," the default value of which i believe is 100. this is the value you need to change (or not change) accordingly...and of course edit the same exact preference at the WCG website.

for instance, if Correlizer and WCG are the only 2 CPU projects running on that host, and the resource share is set to 100 for both projects, then they'll split the CPU's resources 50/50. if you were to change the resource share for Correlizer to 300 and leave the resource share for WCG at 100, then Correlizer would use 75% of the CPU, and WCG would only use 25%. now keep in mind that this does not necessarily mean that Correlizer will use 75% of the CPU and WGC 25% of the CPU all the time. it could also mean that Correlizer will run 75% of the time and WCG will run 25% of the time. so if we analyze a 60-minute block of CPU time and assume a 4-core CPU for simplicity's sake, we might sometimes find that Correlizer runs on 3 cores and WCG runs on 1 core for the entire 60 minutes. alternatively, we might find that Correlizer runs on all 4 cores for 45 minutes and that WCG runs on all 4 cores for the remaining 15 minutes.

either way, Correlizer would be getting 75% of the available resources, and WCG would be getting 25%. now b/c of the above resource allocations, the CPU will crunch Correlizer 75% of the time/CPU cycles unless there is no work available. in the event that no Correlizer work is available, the CPU lends all its resources to WCG, despite the fact that the WCG project is set to use only 25% of the CPU's resources. once Correlizer work becomes available again, WCG drops back down to a 25% resource consumption and gives 75% back to Correlizer.

hope that helps...let me know if you need any more specifics...

Eric

That clears it up and I will adjust my stuff.
I may have more questions but I am in a rush right now.

My X6 which has been my champion in this race isn't getting fed enough. All my other computers have a decent buffer though.

1 core of my i3-2100 ESXi box is now in the game

Poor little ubuntu VM!

Measured floating point speed 2544.62 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 10569.82 million ops/sec

Is running an old BOINC client (6.10.xx) going hurt things? I just pulled it down from the ubuntu software store and if I build out more machines I'll just be using Ubuntu as well, maybe even just off of the live CD, we'll see...

2nd machine crunching - 3rd needs a new windows installation, as does the 4th. (tomorrow maybe?)

TeAm AnandTech - RAC = 143,275, Total Credit = 5,458,917
SETI.Germany - RAC = 130,412, Total Credit = 6,017,533

Difference in Credit = 558,616

Great work everyone! This is the first time (that I've seen) in the last few days where we're closing the gap in total credit. Long ways to go but crunch on and recruit!

You can also set correlizer preferences to 100 on their website, and another project at 0. That should make your PC pickup primarily correlizer's WUs, and only resort to the project set to 0 when it had spare cpu power.

Yesterday morning it was my fastest X4 that didn't have WU's when I woke up; this morning my X6 is idle. Rather frustrating. I had set my queue for 1.00 days worth of WU's.

i think something's wrong with the server. i woke up this morning to find 44 Correlizer tasks "ready to report," and i get a BOINC error message when i manually try to update the project and report the tasks (Scheduler request failed: HTTP gateway timeout). also, the server status page won't load right now.

you just beat me to it...I have also kind of the same deal going on.

On another note, we continue to gain make gains on SG.

The lack of work is killing my PPD totals. I keep flirting with 7,500 and then these idle moments when I sleep for 6 hours happen.
Frustrating.

everything looks green and there are plenty of WUs to download...
now If I could just upload what I finished...

I finally got some for my X6. Was a frustrating 45 minutes. I just hope all of my machines can continue to be constantly fed for the next 7 days.
