The antialiasing performance, both Quincunx AA and supersampling AA, is the most shining point of GeForce3. Benefit by both of the Quincunx AA mode and the high profitability memory bandwidth interface (Table 1.), GeForce3 run today games with Quincunx antialiasing enabled almost twice as fast as the GeForce2 Ultra with 4xFSAA(Supersampling) under the same situation (Table 2.). It is interesting to note that the new memory bandwidth interface to be extremely in favor of antialiasing fulfillment of GeForce3. The known benchmarking results (Table 2.) show that there is about +10% performance boost of GeForce3 over GeForce2 Ultra under the normal conditions, while we get a performance boost as high as over +50% with antialiasing enabled.here

Don't get me wrong. The technology showcased in GeForce3 is the future. I'm sure that ATI and anybody else that steps up to the plate with a card will follow suit.

A quick update for ya. The MSRP is currently $499. A couple months later the street price may even hit a lowly $400.

Actually that is a false assumption. It would hold water if the GF3 was around the $350 range but it is not so it wont have any effect on prices. Even that of the GeForce Ultra. In fact it should be pretty stable.

I bet a lot of people where upgrading in mind with the GF3 but are instead going for something cheaper like the GF2Ultra or the GTS. I think the Ultra might actually go up a few dollars this month.

If the MSRP for most of the boards is $499 we will see street prices below this very soon. Then OEM card will come out that are in the low 400's or even around 400 even. That's not bad.

Faster fsaa is a nice but largely irrelevant feature to many of us. Certainly not worth jumping out and buying this card for it.

A see a GF 3 in my life at some point. Depending on how fast quality games arrive that make decent use of DX8, I might bite as early as Xmas time. If the basic GF 3 is $499 at release, by Xmas I'm guessing it'll be in the mid-to-upper $300 range.

The history of the market trend tend to show the price of the other cards getting push down by the next-gen. cards. I am sure there will be the same effect with the GF3. Of course, I am only speculating.
