This is one of those "download it now, keep it in your Origin library forever" kind of deals. This is the Ultimate edition too, which contains all the DLC AFAIK.

If anybody has a problem with screen resolution being stuck at 800x600, try this:

1. goto this folder: Origin\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config

2. open 'graphics rules.sgr' in notepad

3. search for 'maxResWidth'

4. Change this part:

option ScreenModeResolution
   setting $Low
      uintProp maxResWidth      1366
      uintProp maxResHeight     768
      uintProp defaultResWidth  800
      uintProp defaultResHeight 600

   setting $MediumButDefaultLow
      uintProp maxResWidth      1366
      uintProp maxResHeight     768
      uintProp defaultResWidth  800
      uintProp defaultResHeight 600

   setting $Medium
      uintProp maxResWidth      1366
      uintProp maxResHeight     768
      uintProp defaultResWidth  1024
      uintProp defaultResHeight 768

   setting $High
      uintProp maxResWidth      1366
      uintProp maxResHeight     768
      uintProp defaultResWidth  1024
      uintProp defaultResHeight 768

my native resolution on my laptop is 1366x768. So anywhere in the above where you see that resolution, change it to your and save. Then you should be able to go into the game options after launching the game and switch it.

Been watching Robbaz' Sims 3 videos and just installed Sims 3 again. I'l pprobably play ti for like 5 minutes and never play it again though, lol. probably more fun to watch him play.

I don't know if I'd call it the best, but getting near all of it for free puts it pretty high. Sims 3 is loaded with DLC, and Sims 4 apparently carved huge chunks out of the base game to sell as DLC.

I started playing sims 3 and it took like 10 minutes to load to a point where i could actually start playing. I started to create a sim and just said f this and quit.

I couldn't resist, free games and some nostalgia,
The Sims 1 was pretty cool when it came out, but it got old very quickly, I don't think I played much Sims 2 if any at all, and it's a 10 years old game... well, the experience was not so great, load time was horrible, game launched locked at 800x600, shadows on high don't work properly and the anti aliasing option (I think) is grayed out.

also I've played some sims 3 a few years back, and this game definitely feels a lot older.

still, it's only 13GB and free, it was worth checking out.

I could not play it as I get a popup message saying I needed the original copy installed.

You don't. It's the full game.

That is what I figured. Mine does not let me play it though as I get a popup box after hitting play saying I need an original copy installed :confused
