Nope, all one need to do is look at the topic in OT to see other American haters posting it.
What does this have to do with hating America?
Why would I want a shit hole city that has honor students being murdered in the streets with rail road ties represent America?
Ya, that is the exact picture of American I want to send to the world.....right....

There is another thread going here about how the poorest, and I would say worst run, cities are run by Democrats, so maybe that is a better place to continue.

It was all over recent news that Bama met with his A'stan General once - while he was spending days in Europe trying to pull Olympics in - and then lost in first round. Obama made himself into the poster child for fecklessness. It was great having him out of country for a few days though.
I am happy for the sane tax payers of Illinois who didn't want this fiasco. People are trying to make these Olympics the first "green" Olympics. The hype over any Olympics is already lethal and especially when the media sewer of the USA is involved. The "green" shtick would have made things double lethal - triple lethal with Obama being able to use it to market his green crap.

it's almost as if urban areas are predisposed towards having high crime rates and young people move into cities when they're just starting out

The Olympics just said "C-YA-LATER" to Obama & Chicago!
Now there needs to be an investigation as to how much tax payer funds were used for this useless trip to Denmark.
Chicago & Tokyo Out!

But hey, a city with some of the highest crimerates and crushing poverty is a great idea, I'm sure everyone in the favela will benefit greatly from this.

Nice title (not you, the writer) and journalism. JFC it's as though only Chicago and Rio were in the running.

The Summer Games (and Para-Olympics) in Atlanta were a blast.
ISWYDT. Do you?
I didn't.
But I do, now.

I just can't believe the Contard hate on this thread.
"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."

If by chance Rio doesn't win, is Pele humiliated and a massive failure?
Here is video of Michelle Obama's pitch to the International Olympic Committee in Copenhagen, where she said at around the 1:10 mark of the video, that some of her best memories are of "sitting on her Dad's lap," watching the Olympics, and "rooting for Olga, Nadia, Carl Lewis and others for their brilliance and perfection."
Uh, Carl Lewis was born in 1961, and Michelle Obama was born in 1964. Lewis first participated in the Olympics in 1984 - when Michelle was 20 years old! In her rush to be overly dramatic, she forgot to check some of the facts.
