how do the pins go in? a friend of mine told me that the text should be facing outside and the metal part should be facing on the inside (maybe i misheard?) he did it on mine and it booted up but now, since i had to do an overhaul, i had to unplug what he did... i did what he said and have checked it numerous times... no luck so does the text go on the outside like he said and the metal thing on the inside?? or did i mishear?

also
can someone tell me when there are black and green which one is negative and positive red and black which is negative and positive white and green which is negative and positive and when theres 3-4 (red black white green or something) which one is which

These things, unfortunately, are not consistent. However, when you look at the color codes, black and white are generally ground or common. Red and green are usually power or signal. I have found that for most boards and cases the label (printed) side of the connectors all face the same way but this can be either up or down (or front or back). The good news is that I don't think you can damage anything as long as you are on the right set of pins.

Polarity of the power and reset buttons does not matter at all.

Regarding connectors to the leds for hard drive activity, etc, if it doesn't light as it should, then simply switch the connections, no harm done.

It will tell you in the manual for the motherboard. Although the manuals aren't always right, unfortunately.

On the small black connector, there will usually be a small black raised triangle, this is the positive connection. It usually correlates to the green or orange wire.
