Faulkner is tedious, but a big gun in literature.
The two worst chapters are the first, as told by the handicapped son, and the third (I think it's the third, might be the second) as told by the brother who commits suicide.
The first chapter will go back and forth between different periods in the family's history.
You might want to consider picking up the sparknotes or cliff notes, not to avoid reading the book, but to better help you understand what is going on.
