Mark Henry in his prime. /endthread

I don't think so. Henry never had the upper body strength that Kaz had. Here are their best raw powerlifting official meet totals:

Henry: squat - 953.5 lbs, benchpress - 518.1 lbs, deadlift - 865.3 lbs, total - 2336.9 lbs on 10/29/1995 WDFPF at 405 lbs.
Kaz: squat - 925.9 lbs, benchpress - 661.4 lbs, deadlift - 837.8 lbs, total - 2425.0 lbs on 01/31/1981 IPF at 330 lbs.

Their best ever official meet numbers (i.e. done at different meets):
Henry: squat - 953.5 lbs, benchpress - 518.1 lbs, deadlift - 865.3 lbs, total - 2336.9 lbs
Kaz: squat - 925.9 lbs, benchpress - 661.4 lbs, deadlift - 886.2 lbs, total - 2473.5 lbs

Here's a meet Kaz did injured and still totaled 2149 easily.

I like how he says he's too big for the bar for squatting and it hinders him. lol

Talks about how he once did 600lbs for 5 reps. Good lord.

I just don't see anyone ever beating his raw 2425lb total in powerlifting. Not even modern day strongmen can like Pudzianowski can beat that, although it's possible that Big Z in his prime couldve beaten Kaz in Strongman but there's not definitive metrics on endurance to really say.

For example, Biz Z barely beats Kaz' powerlifting raw total even using single ply gear:
Done in official powerlifting competitions under IPF rules (single ply equipment)
Squat - 428 kg (944 lb)[20] – Lithuanian record
Bench press - 285.5 kg (629 lb)[21] – Lithuanian record
Deadlift - 410 kg (900 lb)[20] – Lithuanian record
Total - 1,123.5 kg (2,477 lb) (428|285,5|410)[20] (2012) – Lithuanian record

Non-geared:
Done in the gym (personal records as of 2013 according to Savickas himself)

Squat – 400 kg (880 lb) for 3 reps[21] raw with knee wraps
Bench press - 285.5 kg (629 lb) for 1 rep;[20] 250 kg (550 lb) for 3 reps[21]
Deadlift - 450 kg (990 lb) for 1 rep[21] no wrist straps
To challenge Kaz' mythical total of 1100kg/2425lbs from 1981, he'd have to do all of these numbers in the same day. Not gonna happen.

Pudz has the lower body fat, ripped look, but if the two stood side by side in their primes, you would see what a BEAST Kaz was.

Does the 'ripped look' really have any practical purpose? Seems like super-strong dudes always look borderline-fat. In a long-sleeved shirt, you probably WOULD think they're just fat dudes.

Zero body fat is a glamour thing.

Kaz was also absolutely LOADED up with roids, whereas Henry was not. If you are talking best pure strong man, that has to be a huge factor.

only in sports with weight classes where you to maximize functional mass

Henry could have still taken roids and cycled off. Do you really think it's hard to beat a test if you're in the know? Add in advanced nutrition/tech/training of a different decade and I think it's even more incredible what Kaz has done. Remember, Henry chose the WWE over his Olympic weightlifting career, the WWE juiced like MFers.
His appearance at the Olympics proved to be his last official competition in Olympic weightlifting, as he retired from weightlifting, vowing never to return unless the sport is "cleaned up" of anabolic steroid use.[38]

So is that why he really quit? Or did he get tired of losing? lol

There is quite a lot of literature on the topic.

Louis Cyr

Or

Paul Anderson
Louis Cyr - The Strongest Man That Ever Lived.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Cyr

While several of Cyr's feats of strength may have been exaggerated over the years, some were documented and remain impressive. These included:

lifting a platform on his back holding 18 men for a total of 1976 kg
lifting a 534-pound (242 kg) weight with one finger
pushing a freight car up an incline
At 19 years old, he lifted a rock from ground up to his shoulder, officially weighted at 514 pounds[2]
He beat Eugen Sandow's bent press record (and therefore the heaviest weight lifted with one hand) by 2 pounds (0.91 kg) to a total of 273 pounds (124 kg).[3]

As shown in movie Louis Cyr : l'homme le plus fort du monde

Crucifix: 97 3/4 pounds (44 kg) left hand and 88 pounds (40 kg) right hand
One-handed snatch: 188 1/2 pounds (85 kg)
One-handed press: 273 pounds (123 kg)
Back lift: 4337 pounds (1967 kg)

all that without any weight training at all. Just pure natural strength.

He was 5' 10" 310 lbs:

At his peak Louis was 5 feet 10 inches (178 cm) in height and weighed 310 pounds (140 kg), with a 21-inch (53 cm) neck, a 54-inch (140 cm) chest, a 45-inch (110 cm) waist, 22-inch (56 cm) biceps, 19-inch (48 cm) forearms, 11-inch (28 cm) wrists, 33-inch (84 cm) thighs, 23-inch (58 cm) calves.

You realize that was a scripted wrestling match for Bill to lose? They are just laying on each other. I can't imagine what Bill would do if he was in a real fight.

I didn't see any reference to it being a scripted wrestling match. It looked odd, but then again these guys aren't fighters so maybe thats what a wrestling match would look like between them. Although I don't think it was a wrestling match either, as the one dude was using kicks, but neither threw punches. Its not shooto either...maybe bushido?

Actually strong/huge men would do pretty shitty since they don't have functional tools to punch or kick. The mass of their legs/arms is just too big. They would gas in 1 minute.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wfcQVxV5Cw and his other losses , though I give him respect for even trying it.

I get that this thread is about lifting, but this guy would throw/ragdoll around everyone mentioned like kids. Obv if they're Mark Henry size he wouldn't be able to throw around but at least completely dominate with technique.

I've always wondered how Brock Lesnar would have fared if he had decided to be a body builder instead of a wrestler. He's put up some pretty sick numbers with weights for someone where lifting wasn't even his thing or something he did all that much of.
