The thing that hurts the RT are the Atom based Windows 8 tablets. For ~$100 more, you get something that can run the regular Windows Apps and isn't limited just to what might be available in the Store.
Not even the case. The Surface 2 is going to be $450. Then ASUS is going to release the T100, which will be $350. That thing includes Office 2013 Student/Home Edition AND the keyboard dock. To get the keyboard on the Surface, it'll be at least $100 more ($130 for the Type Cover, because the Touch Cover sucks).
So, you can get full (32-bit) Windows 8 with Office and a dock for $350, or you can get Windows RT, no keyboard, and Office for $450. Then, when you want a keyboard, your investment can be $550-600. Why people like that kind of a deal, I don't get.
Even then, I'd take the Surface 2 over an Android or iOS tablet, but I'd not make the ARM choice AT ALL when the Atom stuff costs the same or less.
