LoL!

I found some instructions that only go as high as simmer.

Excellent. You can easily use this recipe for boiling also, if the temperature in the recipe is in Fahrenheit. To boil, just pretend the temperatures are in Celsius, and you will be boiling in no time. Just don't burn the water.

LoL!

I can see the caveman with a crock of burned water, saying to his neighbor, "I just invented this. I call it 'fire.'"

Rudy's in San Antonio, TX is my favorite place to go to. Food is great, and dine-in setup is excellent.

I'd go there more often, but it's so far for me to travel to get there. I mean, it's 5, maybe even 6 miles from my front door!!

@petrus: Bro in law mostly just let me do the cooking but offered pointers. No joke, I got more compliments than ever before. Apparently, the little things really do make a big difference. Of course, there would have been no bbq at all if he hadn't helped get the grill started in the first place...

re: burned water. My wife is extremely adept at burning all kinds of things, but as far as I know she has never burned any water. Does anybody have the recipe for that? It would be worth a week on the couch just to see her face...

why do bright stars have bands of light going off in 4 directions?

actually no star has these 4 thin lines of light coming from its center, it is a very common image aberration, so common, that even in drawings people reproduce these 4 spikes.

Here's the reason: a very common type of telescopes is the Newton reflector, which is especially useful for deepsky, ...

http://www.oneminuteastronomer.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/Newtonian-Reflector.jpg

These telescopes have a 2nd mirror which is held by 4 arms, these arms create these 4 lines when a bright source of light is reflected. You can even see these 4 arms if you turn the "focus" wheel next to the eyepiece to the most unfocused level on such a telescope. So it's only a very common picture error, this doesn't happen on other types of telescopes

For many years I have observed fish in schools, but they don't seem to learn much. In an effort to see if this is because of a poor schools system or the fact that fish are just stupid, I decided to do a little one-on-one tutoring of a small salmon. I tried to teach him how to fillet, pan fry, and garnish with lemon, but he didn't learn anything. Was he stupid or just an underachiever?

Doesn't matter as long as he was delicious.

You probably would have enjoyed the process more (plus had more scientific accuracy re: controls) if you would have taken 3 fish, and taught one process to each. Maybe you should try that next time and let us know how it goes!

I've never like perch much, though I've never had it BBQ'd, either.

My company had bbq delivered from fritziesbbq on saturday. It was great, I'm putting them on my lunch rotation!

Liz has a new website. There is absolutely nothing on it yet, but I figure some here would appreciate the name.

:thumbsup;

That is pretty awesome.

[And I'm back? or not. I'm sitting at work at 5 AM, studying for a psychology class I need to come closer to graduating after years and years of school... and I decided to go to ATDC Forums... and I found out I'm still the second most prolific poster in this thread after months of not posting. ]

I agree - you are. And I am not so prolific either ... but some, now and then.
BTW: tomorrow probably the last BBQ for the summer season; Sept 15th autumn starts.

Oh the irony. Here, it is (almost) too hot to grill. When the weather cools down, I will be able to grill outside and not cook faster than the food on the grill.

I'd be scared to use anything other than gas, and even that is iffy lately. I live in fair oaks ranch, most of our town was evacuated yesterday due to a fire in the camp stanley area. Also, I have a buddy who told me yesterday that the fire in Bastrop was stopped just a few blocks from his house.

Yay forum archiving... Forgot my recipe, and couldn't remember where I put it. I'm sure I would have found it in the TB of stuff on the server... But this works.

EDIT: I've had to edit this post quite a few times, in order to remove words that might bring mod-action on me... Choice words are fully and absolutely descriptive of this week. Half of my in-laws have lost everything in the fires in central Texas. Not to mention the fact of seeing such a beautiful state park (Bastrop State Park, amidst the central Texas Lost Pines) burn. Then the tidal wave of school and reluctant admission to having to carry on in real life -- luckily every one else gets to take a break from work, but school waits for no one it seems. Mind you, I'm not complaining or looking for pity -- merely ranting while erasing lots of words that I initially type. Ugh... Never succumb to the feeling of being ahead -- nature will end that quickly for you... Yeehah. Back to making my limoncello.

The fire at camp stanley/bullis got very clost to my daughter's school the other day, so close in fact that the school was evacuated as well. However, yesterday they tried to have school anyway, even though the fire was only 50% contained. Why did they do it? Because if they get to 11:45 it gets to count as a "day" of school. Unbelievable!!!

I think that the principal has some sort of strong incentive to prevent makeup days. Probably either cool vacation plans or something in his/her pay plan. Time for an open records request!

I am poised and ready to install an FX-8150 when it comes out later this month.
