Well It's Super Bowl Time this Sunday and all kinds of "fixins" are going to be prepared starting with those lil wieners in BBQ sauce, Swedish meatballs, chicken wings and Shredded pork. Don't really give a crap who wins the game though. Will b fun to watch.

ok, here's the recipe I got. I've never tried to actually cook any of this, but I've eaten all of it. It's far and away the best bbq I've ever eaten.

Baby Back Ribs

Seasoning - salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder

Cooking
- gas grill - wrap in foil and cook 30 minutes. Remove from foil and cook for another 30 to 45 minutes. You'll know they're done if you can almost pull a bone out. If you want, you can brush with favorite sauce with about 10 or 15 minutes left on the cook.

- smoker pit with indirect heat - season and stick on the pit for 2 hours. after 2 hours, wrap in foil along with a cup or so of apple sauce and put back on the pit for another 2 hours. after 2 hours, unwrap and stick back on the pit for 1 more hour. If you want, you can brush with favorite sauce every 10 to 15 minutes with about half an hour to go. They will be done if you can almost pull a bone out.

Chicken

take a boneless, skinless chicken breast and marinate it in italian dressing for an hour if you can but if not, 15 minutes would work. Take out of the dressing and season it with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Wrap bacon around the chicken and put tooth picks in it to hold the bacon together. Cook on each side until bacon is crisp. If you have a meat thermometer, you want to make sure the chicken is at 165 degrees.

Jalapeños

cut in half, remove the seed, add cream cheese, wrap in bacon, cook until bacon is done. better make lots of these because they go fast and everyone loves them.

I have found that as I get older, "gathering my thoughts" is a lot like herding cats.

It was pointed out to me at the end of the day yesterday, that the following was written on my white board without my noticing it all day:

When you're dancing with your honey,
and your nose is very runny.
You may think it's very funny,
But it's snot.

One of the police sergeants was looking at the "gibberish" (PHP & SQL) on my board, and decided that needed to be on the board somewhere.

ROFL!

Here's what we are making today:
Crockpot Chicken Tacos
6 frozen chicken breasts
2 cans Rotel tomatoes
2 packets of taco seasoning (1/2 cup from bulk)
1.5 cups instant rice

Throw the chicken, Rotel tomatoes, and taco seasoning in the crock pot, cook on low for 4 to 6 hours
(less cook time if the chicken isn't frozen)

When fully cooked, shred chicken with forks
30 minutes before serving, add 1.5 cups instant rice (rice will absorb liquid)

Options, add corn and/or black beans

Makes a lot. Great the next morning as breakfast burritos!

A lady, who I cannot stand, who works for my landlord announced her resignation this morning.

I guess the voo-doo works! I got a doll who looked exactly like her and made it sit down and write resumes.

Speaking of writing resumes... I have to update my resume for an award submission ( ). For some reason, being nominated student worker of the year for the university requires an updated resume...

Ergo, my recipe = Bushmills, glass, and most recent (2 years old) resume.

Recipe Request

My better half received a cast aluminum 21.5 quart Canner/Cooker for her birthday, and I would be interested in seeing if anyone has recipes for using this thing. She has a book, and the guide that came with it, but recipes from people are always better than the "official" ones.

EDIT: Yes, it is a pressure cooker. Couldn't remember the normal name for the thing for the life of me...

My mother used to do a good Swiss Steak in a pressure cooker, which is what I'm guessing this is.

Sorry, no recipe.

I enjoyed reading this particular page. There are some mouth watering recipes here.

I too have fond memories of my mom using a pressure cooker. It was fast, and the food was always good. It worked great for Sunday after church dinner. About 35 years ago I heard that there may be a correlation between aluminum cookware and Alzheimer's. I don't know if it's true, but I only cook with stainless steel now. My mom and 5 of her sisters all died with Alzheimer's, and I may have it myself someday. (Because of some of the substances that I have used, aluminum cookware is probably the least of my concerns.) I have considered getting a pressure cooker from time to time. I would probably get a stainless steel one. Many clandestine chemists prefer stainless - for other reasons.

Still - those memories of my mom and her pressure cooker are great.

I just had a wonderful lunch walk: sunshine, no clouds, light snowfall from the surrounding trees, -10ºC. Steam rising from the one hole in tghe ice on the river - where the current is too strong for freezing.
No BBQ though - the steam is way too cold.

Where are the pictures?? You have to start carrying a camera around. You never know when you're going to see something that would make a good picture.

OTOH, I know that it is not always convenient to carry a camera. . . . , perhaps a thought.

When does Doctor Who start again? When do I need to start pestering my DVR about recording it? Blah, I hate their website -- no info for US addicts....

We got 25 cm (9.84 inches) new snow today ...
Wet snow, back breaking, very slippery snow. Sticks to skis, is slippery for shoes.

Post 3 498:

Wew have a wonderful day - great for BBQ - except the coldness: it was -17ºC this morning (1.4ºF); just now it is -12ºC (10.4ºF). I wish it was warmer ...
