Regardless of whether they needed a QB, drafting Vince Young would have putt a lot of butts in the seats of the Texan's stadium.

That guy is a local hero in Houston.

Uh..not according to this ESPN article:

VY is a total winner, and although this year's draft for Houston is actually really good, I agree that Texans should not have passed up either Vince or Reggie. I also agree that Super Mario will be a solid DE in the near future for the Texans.

they didn't need either to beat the colts today.

mario has been playing with an injured foot for the entire season.

I'm hoping that all these years of getting the snot beat out of him will make Carr smarter in the long run.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Carr's mobility. He needs a pocket. A pocket that will last longer than 1 second and give him a better chance to connect with a receiver or TE.

We have the receivers and we're on the way when it comes to the defense. We need an OL to complete our offense. Because of Capers' and Casserly's decisions in the past, OL was overlooked for the most part. If we can get a good OL, we're fine.

I thought the Texans drafted Mario because they needed a good pass rusher to match up against Peyton and his passing attack, considering that they were 0-8 against the Colts entering the season. Well, they did that today, didn't they?

Reggie Bush has NOT had an amazing year, and he isn't even the best rookie on his team...

As far as Vince Young, the Texans definitely fuxored up. He might not have been able to do for the Texans what he's doing for the Titans, but he'd certainly help sell tickets due to huge fan support. And I'm also not convinced he couldn't have helped the Texans more - it wasn't like the Titans were in better shape than the Texans at the beginning of the year. True, the Texans supposedly have a terrible O-line but at least Vince Young can scramble away from sacks.

Mario was a great pick for Houston. Neither Young nor Bush would have done anything behind that high school offensive line they have, except maybe run for their lives.

Offensive players are more of a sexy pick, but in the long run, a stud defensive end will benefit them more, particularly if they'll get him some help.
Opponents are already double teaming Mario, because nobody else on the defensive line is a real threat to the QB.

Romo is slow. I don't know where this notion of him being fast came from. the guy's 40 time is actually SLOWER than Drew Bledsoe.

He sure looks faster than Bledsoe on TV when he scrambles

Titans fan here. Let me just say that I thank the Texans every day for a couple of reasons. First, being a whipping boy of the division. Second, for passing on Vince.

Give it time. You'll be treating Young like McNair in a few seasons.

How were we treating McNair? He was around for years and years. Everyone loved him.

Mario is a good pickup for the Texans. They did need a stud rusher and I think he will be a good one. Those guys are underrated sometimes. But the quickest way to compete in the NFL is to build a good defense and complement it with a running game. The Texans right now need another runner since Davis is hurt and will take time to recover. They also need to concentrate on their offensive line.

I personally think Carr is a good QB. I have watched him several times and I think he has all the tools, including the intangibles. The Texans don't lose games because of him, they lose games because they lack enough talent. If I were the GM this year, I'd draft at least one offensive lineman very high, and sign another in free agency. Then I'd draft a running back in the second round, and another WR or TE in the third. Another FA priority is a solid rusher to go with Mario to make him more effective. Then the Texans will be on track to being a consistently better team. I'm a Cowboys fan but am watching the Texans with interest. I don't think they are as far off as some people may think that don't see them play as much.

As others have said, they're actually pretty good at QB and RB. Their huge issue is the offensive line. Reggie Bush would get murdered in Houston with that line blocking for him.

Although I agree that they should definitely draft a good O-line man, I don't agree on the RB. They have a great one, Davis, and Ron Dayne has been pretty good lately, he could be used as the 3rd down back or just as backup. Their two WRs, A. Johnson and Moulds, are better than most of the teams in the NFL, so I don't see any need for another good WR, maybe a late draft pick/free agent signing of a 3rd WR. They have a good developing TE who has caught a lot of TDs, I see no problems there. On the defense though.... they need a lot of help throughout. Remember last week when the Pats put on a 40-7 beating? They need to get more playmakers on defense, and they are trying to do that through drafting Mario.
