By the way last I've heard Asus was #1 are they still up there or has someone else taken the title.

Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Abit, and the new comer DFI.

DFI doesnot really standout except the recent enthusiast lines. The verdict is still out there on DFI, and it all depends on how long and how well these products hold in the future.

I must put in a bid for Abit. Overclocking hasnt really been all that great recently fromwhat I hear on Abit boards, but if your like me and prefer to let things run stock, Abit is awesome and rock solid!

I cant honestly comment on other boards because I have used abit exclusively. KV8 was my first board and put it through things that only a noob could do. As it was part of my first build I ever did, I did make some newbie mistakes with it. However it took all of that and gave me stable performance. I now have an AV8 and this thing is a ROCK. lots of good stuff on it and best of all Ihave had ZERO issues with it. I may try to OC at some point just for kicks with it, my 4000+ Sandy and 2GB RAM, but that will be for giggles only.


My equipment has to last, which is why I dont OC at all. But if I did, Id have to assume that DFI would take that cake. Seems like everyone is raving about the Lanparty these days!.

You picked the wrong board if you want it to last. Supermicro boards with VRMs and no caps are the only way to go for longetivity.

Right now I have a PCChips board, yea I know its a low quality board but I couldn't afford any thing else. Now I'm going for the best of the best.

The Chip I'll be putting in the new system will be an AMD 3000GH or a 2.8 (haven't decided yet). Are any of these board good for an AMD.

I've just thought of something else. "Chip set" Yea thats it that would help me a lot beside only on the mb (motherboard)

They haven't technically 'made them' for quite some time, if they ever did make them. Their newer ones are ECS, as easily evidenced by AMP connectors. Many companies use ECS/PC-Chips, but the QC appears to be very different between them.

Our experiences differ. I can't complain one bit about DFI, and I would never bother with anything so over-crammed and gaudy as the Lanparty series, and I only marginally overclock (overclock for gaming & ripping; underclock and undervolt for anything else).

I've only ever used:

Aopen AX59 Pro 2mb cache S7 - still have it running for a webserver with a K62 500

Abit KT7 RAID - had this with a thunderbird 800 but I sold it to a friend, eventually one of the caps blew up on it (it came from the era of bad caps)

Asus A7V333 - was always a great MB for me, and I love it has a passive chipset heatsink instead of some crappy fan

Abit NF7-S v2.0 - my current MB, it's great, however the chipset fan was pretty loud and has since been replaced.

So I'd go Asus/Abit I guess. As far as MSI, I heard a lot of bad things about them over the years however their recent stuff seems to get rave reviews by websites and forum people alike.
