Keep giving the bully your lunch money, I’m sure he’ll get bored and move on eventually, right? Use your words and be the bigger person.

Bullies need to be punched in the face, it’s the lesson the Dems should have learned 10 years ago.

The Trump push toward illiberal democracy (and then maybe even further) is threatened by the geographical proximity of Canada - a fully functioning liberal democracy, committed to responsible government and the rule of law. I have little doubt that Trump is using these economic measures in an attempt to destabilize Canadian politics in order to confirm his dystopian vision of Canadian politics.

If Pierre Pollilevre wins the next election in Canada, the tariffs will magically disappear and suddenly he'll have a neighbor willing to do his bidding. What Trump wasn't counting on was the reaction of Canada and its people to his bullshit and bloviating. It seems to be hurting Pierre Poilievre, the Canadian MAGA right wing candidate for Prime Minister. His only plan seems to be “not Trudeau” and “let’s do whatever Trump wants” and it seems like Canadians are waking up to the idea they do not want to be the 51st state. So Canada might be in for a tough ride, but the tariffs and threats seem to be pushing Canada to the left. Trump might have singlehandedly saved the Canadian Liberals.

Mafia antics and real estate. Trump loves leverage. He can't resist using it to the point of illegality and hostage taking. Adjacent real estate(Canada, Greenland, Panama) has to be especially tempting so I think it's a mix of sick drives but real estate anywhere is going to get his attention, also especially where he perceives a power vacuum which is now in relation to U.S. power (not just his) meaning all over the place, (Even places like Gaza). He's really drunk on power now. He thinks he owns the country.

Trump hates Canada and Trudeau. Don’t forget around 8 fucking years ago a Reporter asked Justin Trudeau a question about Donald Trump. Think it was at the G-7 meeting in Quebec. And he sternly said Canada will not be pushed around. Donald Trump saw this on his plane and was furious. This is when he pulled out of The Paris Agreement and the TPP.

Plus ... Justin Trudeau is a white guy with better hair and someone his wife likes to friend kiss. That's really all it takes. If Keir Starmer looked like Henry Cavill the UK would have 25% tariffs, too. Donald holds grudges, is very vengeful and vindictive.

Trump is pretending that he has a big dick and is slapping it all over Canadian Politics. He is doing it to weaken Canada and cause division as it's economy struggles and folks lose their jobs. Trump thinks that will create a backlash against it's "liberal" policies and produce the kind of climate Trump likes to bask in; he will take advantage along with the likes of Pollilevre, Peterson and McCleary to cause the conditions under which a totalitarian will thrive. Plus, he's out for Canada's resources. It has nothing to do with fentanyl. His pardon of the Silk Road felon proves that.

Trump united Canadians and did probably save the Liberals. Mark Carney has got a massive boost in winning Liberal leadership considering his economic background.

Good to hear!

A common theme with Trump (and his sycophants) is that he seems to think every problem, real or perceived, has a simple and obvious solution that others are simply too soft or ideologically driven to pursue. So, for example in the recent LA wildfires he insists the obvious solution is to simply release all the water that is being foolishly conserved for environmental reasons. There is no such water, of course, but he assumes there must be because otherwise the Californians would actually be kissing his fucking ass and do what they are told.

With trade deficits Trump seems to assume that America clearly already has all it requires to be self-sufficient. If America buys anything from Canada or any other country it must be out of "charity", "subsidy" or worse, because they’ve been duped/taken advantage of. It doesn’t occur to him that car manufacturers wouldn’t ship car parts back and forth across the border if that weren’t the most cost-effective way to do it.

This is because Trump is a drooling moron, legitimately the stupidest person ever elected President of the United States and like all other idiots placed in positions of power, from Mao to Peron to Hugo Chavez, he suffers from the world’s most dangerous version of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Lol! Trump just caved! ... On both borders really. Trudeau called his bluff & Trump blinked. Trump will claim victory, but he got scared. Trudeau announced this plan on December 17th of last year. Trump demanded things that Canada already announced they were doing in December 2024. Trudeau is humoring president poopy pants. All Trudeau has to do is let Trump pretend he won a grand concession. The Canadians just sold Trump some ice. Trudeau: “Here. We’ve been doing these things for years, but you don’t know that. Go ahead and say you did it.”

Trump: - "I saved us from the mess I created."

Mexico and Canada stood up to Trump and made him back down. Bullies really can't fight. I hope the world is watching.

What trade concessions did Donnie get? What about the so called trade deficit? How is he going to fund his illegal TikTok buyout without tariff funds? So one day before his tariffs went into place, Trump got clowned with a "1 month delay" and neither Canada or Mexico had to give him anything he wanted. Is this 4D chess?

For those playing at home. Mexico and Canda gave up nothing, both agreed to do what they had already had agreed to do regarding their borders. Trump just jettisoned his signature economic foreign policy plan. This is an embarrassment on a global scale.

Fun fact. Almost 87% of the fentanyl in the USA is brought across the border by American citizens. There is the reason for the vast amount of fentanyl in America. If you want to contain the issue, American citizens should be the focus.

I would ask that my fellow Canadians not descend into Trumpish behaviour and not be disrespectful to Americans. Please don't boo their national anthem. Be the better, bigger person. Show everyone what a proud, polite Canadian is all about.

We are better than that.

I am all for the booing, as an American.

We tried to "play nice" and that didn't work and he is now President. The time for trying to be the bigger, better person is over IMO.

Man decades later and I STILL can’t watch this enough.

Edit: I just made myself sad realizing this was 25 years ago… premiered during the Academy Awards, the one where Blame Canada was nominated.

What he gets is his cult members applauding his brilliant tactics, and something else to yell at the sane people for not giving him credit for his shrew negotiating skills.

I also am on board with it. People that live in the Faux infosphere need to have some kind of exposure to the negativity their leader is creating.

Yep. Please boo the anthem because we know you are booing the guy that we can't fucking stand and we know is evil, and his supporters. We know you aren't booing decent Americans.

On one hand, I am glad that everybody wanted off ramps.
OTOH, blackmailing partners is how you lose soft power and make them rethink future deals. USA is less honorable and reasonable to do business with. That will translate into looking elsewhere. China will be very interested in the futures of Canada and Mexico. And we've traded in our good will for nothing.

Man the MAGA are reaching hard trying to portray this as something more than a waste of time and American reputation. Claiming Canada is sending 10,000 troops to the border when what was said is 10,000 personnel are and will be protecting the border. Canada already has 8500 front line border agents.

Trump came out of this looking like a complete and utter fool… as usual.

ND state legislator Nico Rios (whose haircut is a stupid idea in and of itself) posts to Twitter calling for the CIA to depose Mexico’s president on the grounds of her being a Jew.

Also from that article: “ Rios writes many stupid things on social media. He recently argued that an economy where women with children work outside the home is an “rigged system” and that difficulties with childcare availability could be fixed by ending the federal reserve.

And .... During a December 2023 arrest for driving under the influence, Rios called one of the arresting officers a series of slurs.

What the fuck?!?! ... Wow, the voters of ND, take a bow!

Off ramps are good for everyone, but the long-term damage was done the moment he saber-rattled.

Trump is just a huge fucking moron, and he's surrounded himself with a mix of brain-poisoned morons and Nazis.

Post in thread 'Just curious....how is the weather in your neck of the woods?' http://www.portvapes.co.uk/?id=Latest-exam-1Z0-876-Dumps&exid=thread...-your-neck-of-the-woods.2573746/post-41387515

In case you all missed this gem. For context, Trudeau announced the boarder measure on Dec 18. All he had to do was repeat it and Donnie Two Bit got his win and delayed the tariffs for 30days.

Hello sir. I was going to ask you, what recipe you suggest for my first pork belly attempt this weekend? I'm going to take one of my recently Frozen pork belly portions out of the freezer from Costco.
