You are acting like this article is god, and taking what both these companies are saying at face value. First of all we already know about what companies are doing to bow down to the orange fascist - Bezos made it very clear himself. What Amazon says is meaningless after the Trump shakedown. Second, the media sucks at covering Trump, this we know from many years of experience.

A 5% reduction in workforce is nothing to sneeze at, and considering the economy was in a totally upward trajectory until three months ago. The single biggest economic factor slowing things down have been the tariffs, and literally ship traffic from China has dropped precipitously - because of, you guessed it, the tariffs - coincidentally a place where Amazon gets a massive bulk of its products from. In fact Amazon was literally going to put the tariff price increase on it's listings, until Bezos bowed to Trump.

These layoffs are a direct result of the tariffs. There is no other way to add 2 + 2 in this instance to be anything but 4. But, not seeing reality and adding things up correctly - that seems to be a really common theme with MAGA

I am not acting that the article is god, just pointing out what is written in the article doesn't support the conclusion in the posting. No, these layoffs are not self evident as being caused from tariffs.

Yes it is a very common theme of MAGA to jump to conclusions to fit their narrative. To me this is like a repeat of the entire suit color for the Pope's funeral. Their is enough shitty stuff that Trump does, that people don't need to jump to conclusions on other stuff. Focus on shit like deportations that directly contradict a court order.

Imagine not thinking the tariffs have anything to do with this. Imagine thinking one can only focus on things written out in stone but can't think about other very obvious things that have a clear correlation and cause and effect.

What a lovely way to be able to exist.

Weird that you are so focused on this when there are so many other shitty things that Trump is doing.

What a lovely way to be able to exist.

Weird that you can't see my participation in multiple topics about multiple Trump issues, not to mention, your implication that if one gives a shit about tariff effects, one can't be giving a shit about much else. Also, I've made like four posts on this UPS layoff subject, if that's so focused to you to the point it excludes other things, what do you consider an actual impactful dedication of time to a subject that it shuts you out of keeping up with other subjects or dutites? 15 seconds?

The amount of correlation and causation between the tariffs and the Amazon/UPS happenings is insane, I'm sorry that it doesn't make sense to you.

It makes business sense that as Amazon Prime Air receives more aircraft that they have ordered their dependence on other delivery partners would decrease exponentially.

I'll tell you what doesn't make business sense, is using a general Wikipedia article that has zero updates about Amazon air news past 2023 to imply it has a direct relation to what's happening here in 2025. Do you have any recent applicable news?

Exactly how many people in this country even know that Amazon has their own fleet of aircraft?!?!

😂

I don't know but I got to say it took me awhile after seeing all these Amazon vans out to really start to wonder what the fuck they built. It's very impressive they built such a vast and successful ogistical operation so quickly. I know there have been some casualties along the way, cuz they are a tough business that doesn't really take too much into consideration about The human condition besides making them shop 😁

But from an operational standpoint it's very impressive. I started reading articles about their logistics a few years ago here and there.

I once worked at a startup which had a couple hundred employees at the time in the office. It was fashion based and sold clothing and accessories. Did the photo shoots to the operations, IT, sales, everything was in house. it was all e-commerce back in 2010. I worked with accounts payable and logistics shared our office space. I thought it was nuts what they did. Shit always fascinated me.

Think I knew the first time I saw a new Amazon prime truck around the block. And I was taken aback like oh Amazon is trying to save money by not hiring UPS/ Fedex to do their deliveries.

That's when I found out they actually had planes for their shipping network too.

But in Canada in some province.. the workers wanted more money so Amazon fired them all and hired a 3rd party company to do deliveries with the exact same rates as it cost them.

The Amazon Prime Rivian EV trucks are pretty cool I must admit—seeing them more often now in NC. I think Amazon has an exclusive on them and were single handedly keeping Rivian afloat during a tough spell.

They used to have an exclusive but thankfully that's over. I remember seeing this article not too long ago about an order from hellofresh the meal kit delivery service.

Well it should be a consideration, lol. I order a lot of industrial instrumentation parts at very high prices, and a lot of the quotes are coming back with "tariff surcharge" line items. Usually on the order of 10% or so, I havent seen anything crazy yet. Even though its 10%, that money is tangible, right there to see before you order.
