All those years of exploding bourbon popularity outside the US being flushed down the drain. But they wanted to FA and vote GOP, so now they are going to FO.
Donnie dumbass…

Trump appeared to try to get ahead of the various moves earlier this week by posting online Monday that he would be imposing his own agriculture tariffs on April 2 and telling American farmers to "get ready to start making a lot of agricultural product to be sold INSIDE of the United States."

He added that farmers should "Have fun!" Whether farmers' bottom lines agree very much remains to be seen. The 2018/2019 standoff took such a deep toll on US farmers that the first Trump administration was forced to step in with more than $20 billion in financial assistance to make up the shortfall.

Good luck growing coffee, avocados, bananas, agave, etc in the US (or having year round access to other fruits and vegetables).

We're all going to pay the price because some people don't take their civic obligations seriously, and decided to abstain or vote for a sociopathic clown.

I posted this in what I thought was this original tariff thread.
That thread is now locked and I am posting the same post here.

Well, the Ontario Canadian Premier essentially told the syphilitic orange menace to go fuck himself.

Ontario Canadian premier says he will cut off electricity exports to US ‘with a smile on my face’

"
Ford doubled down on his pledge to retaliate by matching tariffs, noting the U.S. is a major customer of Canada’s electricity.
“They rely on our energy. They need to feel the pain. They want to come at us hard, we’re going to come back twice as hard,” he said.
The Sun reported Ford said he would go dollar-for-dollar in matching tariffs: “That’s exactly what we’re going to do.”"

Doug Ford appears to have a set of balls that none of our republican congress seems to have.
Good for them.

I don't think it's so much as saving Trump from himself as sowing division within the GOP.

If Republicans break from Trump, you can play up the intraparty fighting. If they don't, you can play up how Republicans hate every day Americans and are raising taxes through the Trump tariffs.
Democrats really need to frame this as effectively a sales tax meant to raise money off the peoples' backs to deliver Elon and the robber barons another undeserved tax cut. So they won't because they're dipshits who suck up to billionaires. Just like they should have been screaming from the rooftops about the $2000 out of pocket cap on drugs through Medicare Part D that Biden signed into law.

More fun in tariff land.

LOL that reply:

Trudeau says, “Due to us having a working democratic system, our tariffs cannot be undone until Parliament says so, therefore you are going to have to wait until after the election.”

I do believe the point is to have something and someone to blame for the upcoming crisis. The real fun will be seeing what he wants to do about it once his supporters are nice and frothy.

I know the first tranche of tariffs on $30B worth of imports to Canada are specifically targeted at Trump voting America. For example distillers in KY and IN probably contemplating eating a gun, especially with EU tariffs probably coming 4/2.

the LBCO has confirmed that they are removing all US alcohol from it's shelves and this includes grocery stores and variety stores as well as bars and restaurants.

Ontario buys 1 Billion dollars worth of booze from the US per year. That is just one province. I hope others do the same.

Doug Ford doesn't pussy foot around. He is straight to the point and not afraid to say what needs to be said.

They have. There have been a bunch of short, ~1 minute videos senators are putting out basically along the theme "Shit that ain't true".

But part of the problem is they can scream as much as they like. If people don't boost the signal, and if media outlets aren't going to pick it up (instead of continually writing/boosting stories about "dems in disarray"/"dems are doing [insert thing] wrong"), then it doesn't spread. There is lots of money for people to make in the doomer space.

As much as it hurts my country, I say good. Some of my fellow citizens will only know the consequences of their votes if someone repeatedly punches them in the balls.

There is what Lutnick is saying to the Canadians and what Lutnick is saying on TV and what Trump will decide to do. None of those things at this point seem real similar.

I'm sure business is loving not knowing if tariffs will be 0% tomorrow, 12.5% tomorrow, 25% tomorrow, of if Trump is going to launch a Minuteman III at Toronto.
What a perfect environment to make investment decisions.

Personal attack? LOL. I wonder if Trump has the same problem as Musk: can we bully them both enough into having an emotional meltdown?

That they are huge narcissists who cannot handle being criticized at all? Yes, it's pretty easy actually to make him blow his stack as Harris demonstrated in the debate.

apparently British Colombia, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland/Labrador are also removing US alcohol from shelves.
Would suck if you're into beer since American beer has gone from dogshit to arguably the best in the world the last 45 years. But IDK Canadian beer well, hopefully they have some breweries on par with some of the awesome American ones like Stone, Sierra Nevada, Deschutes, Dogfish Head, etc. Shit, if anyone has some good recommendations I wouldn't mind supporting Canadian brewers.
