Conservative group files a lawsuit against the tariffs, and cites the major questions doctrine (LOL)

For all of us democrats and progressives here - I think we can safely and proudly say to all of the dumbfuck MAGA and non-voting public - WE FUCKING TOLD YOU SO YOU GODDAMN JACKWAGON FUCKNUGGETS!
You mean to tell me you don't see the wisdom in placing huge tariffs on some islands that are inhabited by no people but lots of penguins? Come on. They'll just using all that money they're stealing from us in unfair trade to move here when the ice melts. That needs cutting off at the knees. Clearly you know nothing about forth dimensional chess.

Oops, I wasn’t thinking that Trump would never sign the senate tariff retraction even if it got through the house. Drat. In that sense I guess he unfortunately DOES. have a mandate in that he can do whatever the flock he wants.

I buy my watches from this business on Long Island and he just made a video of how much prices are going up due to Liberation Day.

It might as well be Liquidation Day!

That's a theory, but I see a couple flaws. First, it assumes Trump is thinking strategically ("4D chess!") and that's a fairly big assumption. More likely is that he has an idiotic view of global trade, and truly believes tariffs are a solution. Secondly, although the GOP is having a challenging time trying to figure out their precise tax legislation, I don't believe anyone actually thinks that the (D) minority in Congress could actually block a reconciliation bill. (By definition, the minority can't. They'd need to peel off a few (R) votes in the House.)

If that's the case, Trump doesn't need to blow up the global economy to get his preferred tax cuts for the rich. They already had one insane idea called the "current policy baseline" where they argue that extending the 2017 tax regime wouldn't actually cost anything. Or assuming they can get the debt limit increased by many T$, they could do what they've always done which is blow up the federal debt at a breakneck pace.

Sure, MAGA is pretty dumb so they may miss this stealth middle class tax increase for what it is. But forcing a painful global recession and making the U.S. a near economic pariah seems to be a pretty clumsy way to achieve GOP fiscal policy.
Both. He has an idiotic view of global trade, AND he wants the rich to get richer. He's being egged on to do that and it's his predilection to favor the wealthy, regardless of his rhetoric (he knows the vote of the poor counts as much as that of the rich and there's 1000++ poor for every rich person, so he has the poor in mind when he spews his drivel when miced up).

You say "Trump doesn't need to blow up the global economy to get his preferred tax cuts for the rich." Well, the oligarchs, Elon in particular, are complaining that the country's going broke. A broke country can't cut taxes for the rich, or if they do, they can't cut them as much. They need money in the coffers (Treasury) to finance those tax cuts. That's gonna come from the humongous tariffs. Shake down the consumer, it goes into the pockets of the wealthy.

The GOP doesn't have "fiscal policy" (that's too sophisticated for them). At least not in the Oval Office. They have a tool to give their benefactors (donors) what they want: tax relief for themselves. These guys pay big bucks to lawyers and tax experts to get them tax breaks. "Fair share" doesn't appeal to them, it's contrary to the way they think.

Lutnick: "Let Donald Trump run the global economy. He's knows what he's doing. He's been talking about it for 35 years. You gotta trust Donald Trump in the White House ... it's broken. Let him fix it ... Let Donald Trump fix the American economy."

Donald Trump has declared bankruptcy six fucking times! What is this clown smoking. It's a cult!

Lutnick's willing to risk that his BILLION$ will see him through it OK. What a guy!

Reporter: - "The market is tanking"

Trump: - "Things are going very well. Gotta go now. I got to play in a golf tournament"

Just like every other time in our history a Republican gets elected and totally destroys a good economy left by the Democratic President

Not all businesses are suffering. The Joe Biden ‘miss me yet’ stickers are flying off the shelves.

The man is delusional and our media is a joke for not calling him on it to his face.
Didn't know who Lutnick was until I saw him say this on NBC evening news tonight. IIRC it said he's Trump's Commerce Secretary. Of course, he's a sycophant. Yeah 6 bankruptcies. What do you think Cheato's bound to do for the USA's economy?

Next time it comes on, try borrowing a code reader from AutoZone or the like, and looking up the trouble codes yourself. Check engine light, unless flashing, is generally some sort of emissions issue. But for $7k, hopefully they replaced so many things that it will be years before you see another one.
I did go to AutoZone before I brought it to the shop. Autozone chick went out with the reader. It was code P1047, which is emissions related. I had heard that Autozone's testing wouldn't be as sophisticated as a good repair place would do with computer code analysis: I posted in a forum.

One of the things they replaced was EGR emissions control device. I was told that with all they did, it is "like a new car now."

I don't have much hope these days but your last paragraph is one of two things that give me a sliver of hope. We also need to try and turn his base on him and his enablers. That is going to be hard considering the billionaires control all of the media his base views and hears.
Valid point, but months and months of worsening economic conditions, kitchen table issues for your _average_ voter, would slowly but inexorably erode support for the party in charge. They have the WH, senate and house. Can't blame Biden for this and have people believe them especially as time goes on. Can't blame dog and cat eating Haitians, he's sending them all back to Haiti now. Blaming immigrants will wear thin. The news right now is largely about how tariffs are disrupting business, tanking world stock markets and projected to cost the average family thousands of dollars a year. 2+2 still equals 4. Trump declares tariffs, tariffs cost people money, their lives get worse. How popular is Trump and his party gonna be? What can they say in the ads? Show Trump saying things are going to turn around and be terrific? That's what he's saying now, but if it doesn't happen and people's lives are worse, how popular is the R party gonna be?

I would guess his daddy bought him a degree from Wharton.
And then he took his daddy's money and decided to buy a great big building in Manhattan. His daddy said "don't do this" (exact quote). Donald said "I have to do this." That's how it started. Yes, I read "Art of the Deal." Last year I tossed it in a trash can.

He single-handedly wiped out 2 trillion in wealth. I think he gets off on the power. A real-life Dr. Evil. He is serving the American people very well. Thanks.

I did read that his own wealth increased two fold since 2024, this make me think of a french corrupted judge who incured 400M€ loss to the state because he was promised 0.1% of this money by the corruptor.
