Yeah basically all the meatheads type people from GenX that I know from the burbs all turned into fucking MAGA trash. I'm friends with the other types of folks from my generation. Only liberals in my friends circle, why waste time with immoral shitheads?
The absolute peak of that shit mountain are the dudes that peaked in high school then became cops. I know you're thinking of at least a few.

Of course the people that are yippie, are republicans in Congress after they get their face eaten by their constituents.

Chaos, fear, uncertainty, doubt, this is the plan. Distraction while their plans to consolidate power and money to the top.

Fascist theocracy in bound

I think many in the administration/GOP have their own plans to this effect. But these psychopaths have so many competing interests that nothing cohesive is ever agreed upon. And the man at the helm is mentally retarded and is literally incapable of not fucking over his minions’ desires (see Elon, Stefanik, etc.).

So the EU only gets the 10% tariffs as per the White House. they don't even know what is going on.

Call me crazy, but it’s starting to feel like these fuckers aren’t following anything close to resembling a plan.

Don't worry in another hour there will be a 15% baseline tariff on Canada, followed by 5%, then 0%, then 25%, then 55% unless Doug Ford stops talking mean about Donald, followed by a 95% tariff because Donald thinks Justin Trudeau is still the PM.

Ok so no change from previous on Mex/Can. 10% does not apply over existing tariff.
EU at 10% they say because their retaliation has not gone in to effect yet.

Situation still pretty damaging but quite clearly climbing down for now in a lot of areas.

I mean, I haven't run the numbers but I bet 125% on China outpaces what was released from everyone else.

We'll see tomorrow if everyone else does the math and the markets crater.

U.S. becoming uninvestable.

As more and more pull their money out.. the markets will likely drop again.

Rally today shows that people are desperate to put their money in the US stock market. All this talk about losing confidence, a lost decade, I'm not sure if that's mostly wishful thinking. I do think that the rally was WAY too optimistic today, but I am usually more bearish than the market.

Assuming most of the tariff nonsense, except for China, will actually wait for June/July the next big thing will be earnings/guidance. How bad will guidance be for companies like Apple (5/1) or Amazon (4/29)? We're still a few weeks away so who knows what'll happen with the China tariffs by then, but they could take a hit.

And that’s all assuming they shut off the fentanyl pipeline under Lake Superior.

Based on the math I've seen bandied about overall tariff burden down by like a quarter. Obviously there is some expectation that China/US find an off ramp soon...an assumption that I do not particularly share.

I find it far more likely that he'll 'correct' some statements tomorrow and we'll see 50% on the EU, 100% on Taiwan, etc. The chaos is the point.

so how much of today's market jump was fueled by shorts getting squeezed?

Trumps' tariff war with China still results in a recession

What makes me the angriest in all of this is how absolutely cavelier and callous the whole thing is being done. Since last week thousand and thousand have been destroyed one way or another. The market drop wasn’t just some people lost some retirement value for a couple days. What’s worse is after people like us sold them out and put a stamp on their ruin, it all came roaring back. People in tears this morning now sick to their stomachs begging this afternoon for their positions restored.

Fuck this guy as many ways as inhumanely possible.

Almost none of it. It was the air being let out of the balloon. The stupidity “over” for now. That’s it.
