That's the only way to deal with a lunatic like Trump. MAGA

Investing is about confidence. Like you have confidence in their ability to make good decisions.

Enter MAGA and the entire landscape changes and the things investors were counting on where sensible and good decisions would be made are turning out to be bad judgment calls.

No one should be surprised that people don't want to invest in the US markets or stocks during the MAGA era and instead want to go invest somewhere else where it makes more sense.

Tony Blair in 2005: “I hear people say we have to stop and debate globalisation, you might as well debate whether autumn should follow summer.”

Starmer's chief secretary to the Treasury, a few days ago: “Globalisation as we’ve known it for the last couple of decades has come to an end.”

It's funny how the neo-liberal right always portrays their ideological positions as just 'facts of reality' or 'forces of nature'. Even when they do a complete 180.
It's related to how the deeply ideological (i.e. ferociously right-wing) Starmer constantly claims to 'have no ideology'.

We already are in tech feudalism.. lets be honest about it.. do you own appletv, netflix, prime, ms office, lightroom, etc?

You pay to use it while they own it! Same as big business buying up housing and forcing us to rent.
I do use ever-increasing Amazon Prime. I save more than enough in lower prices and shipping costs to offset the stupid price I pay for their service. The video and gaming parts are just icing on the cake for me.
I also use Microsoft Office...but I own the disks for Office 2010. That's more than good enough for me. (and, yes, I know...it's only a license, not actual ownership...but software has been that way for decades.)

Ooh look another post with zero commentary.

Is this just another post where you like to let every one know you have no clue what the fuck is going on?

“Look at me guys! The stock market is back up! I know it just lost 6 trillion in the last week but it’s going up now “.

For the love of god, is there a single person are the right who isn’t a complete moron who can not only form an opinion all by themselves but is also capable of defending it coherently?

It's funny to see the people vote for lower taxes only for MAGA to raise tariffs instead which are basically higher taxes!

LMAO!! Can't really expect any wisdom or intelligence from the people that couldn't tell the difference between Obamacare and the ACA!!
Even better...the tariffs are a tax increase that can't be written off personal income taxes in any way...sales and property taxes can...for now. Of course, businesses will be able to write them off as part of the cost of goods sold...leaving "Joe Taxpayer" on the hook once again.

Quick question: are you fucking dumb?

One can totally be for tariffs and still think the way Trump is applying them is asinine.
Are you afraid after it works Republicans will just keep winning? Are you rooting against fair trade? No president or congress has had the balls to do what all know needs to be done. Why not root for the USA? TDS shouldn't cloud common sense. I, along with the majority, want the best for the USA. What will you say after it works? 70+ countries coming to the table open to negotiating fair trade. A few rocky weeks will lead to a win not only for America, but much of the free world. 40 years ago it helped countries rebuild and it was needed. Now these countries are strong have a huge trade surplus and are screwing the USA as we lose jobs and wealth. I would think the unions would be celebrating. Many are. Asinine? What have the democrats done? What is their plan? Resist anything Trump is the only plan I see, no matter if it might benefit the USA.

And in a few weeks, after 100 plus countries agree to fair reciprocal trade, will you come back here and admit how wrong you were?

I’m waiting for someone on the right who isn’t a complete idiot. You know someone who knows that free trade doesn’t mean tariffs or penalties for having a trade deficit. Hell, give me someone who understands that trade deficits and understands that they aren’t necessarily a bad thing. I’m not holding my breath though.
You can’t even articulate what “winning” looks like, all you can do is parrot Trump talking points. Your dumb ass is complaining about losing jobs while Trump is firing thousands of high paid workers who he wants to replace with lower paying factory jobs that aren’t ever coming back unless we get rid of all trade, let alone “free trade”.

Say something dumb again, I dare you!

And how does 'fair' trade look to you? Trump put on 10% tariff on Australia's trade, despite Australia importing much more from America than America imports from Australia. So maybe fair trade for Australia would be to whack on a sizable tariff on all American goods... you know to help rebuild Australia and to stop America screwing us over... despite our soldiers helping you out in Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War I and II and then also in Afghanistan.

In this America First policy of yours that you seem to love, is there any space for long term allies? Or are they just collateral damage of American winning?

I would need to research trade between Australia and the USA. Does Australia charge a 10% GST? I would expect if trade turns out to be equal with all taxes, tariffs and other variables to be equal it will be a quick agreement that both countries will be OK with.

Hey @raildogg and @Sportsshooter

As a vibe check, thoughts on Russia?
Russians live as slaves under a bloodthirsty butcher, and the world would be a better place without Putin, right?

You see, when I encounter an old account with a particular set of views, it begs the question. The answer helps determine whether a real conversation can be had.

Are these real people? Because, I bet the bot farms are in full swing. There was a post somewhere these 2 days where Tweeter was found to be 80% bots or something. So those posts might not be real at all. Second option is, people are that level of stupid that until it hits them directly, they will eat the poison happily and completely oblivious

Before MAGAs existed, it was easy to spot the trolls, bots weren't around yet. But it would have been easy to spot bots. MAGAs have completely blurred the lines with their stupidity. I've dealt with enough who say bot level crazy shit that I can't always differentiate. But I have seen real MAGAs praise Trump for shit that a sane person would want to run him over in a car for saying/doing.

I know many are bots, but many are real people who are criminally dumb.

Does Australia charge a 10% GST?
Yes. The states used to have separate sales taxes, all these got abolished for one single rate applied across the nation by the Australian Federal government. 100% of the GST flows back to the states. The Feds get none of the revenue.

I would expect if trade turns out to be equal with all taxes, tariffs and other variables to be equal it will be a quick agreement that both countries will be OK with.
America and Australia already have a free trade agreement - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia–United_States_Free_Trade_Agreement - why not roll discussion of a tariff into such discussions? Or does Trump believe that the AUSFTA is now null and void?

Does the American states have sales taxes? Should we take these into account? California seems to be in 7% range. New York is higher.

What has these tax rates got to do with the Trump tariff rate anyways? From the sounds of it the tariff rates were determined not on the basis of these tax rates, but rather the difference in the total value of imports and exports.

I'll bet $500 that Trump doesn't even know what AUSFTA is. And I'd bet my life that if by some chance he's actually heard of it, he doesn't know know a single detail about it. I'm pretty dumb with world events, but I'll take a guess that it stands for Australia Free Trade Agreement. Trump hates fair so he wouldn't be a fan of it. His idea of fair would be the US always coming out on top in any situation involving a foreign country, The man's placing tariffs on an island full of penguins and no people.

Hell, he thought it would be fair for Zelenskyy to give us half of all their resources in exchange for him trying to get Russia to back off. He said there was no guarantee - but he still expected to get half of everything for trying lol.

To be honest, these 100 plus countries doesn't matter. There are only really three trading blocs worth talking about; the EU, China and India. The rest is rounding errors mostly.

India seems to be folding to the Trump pressure. The EU and China won't fold so easily.

But its the uncertainty in the economic rules that governs everything now. No investments worth of any size will now be approved. Too much chaos. And as the video posted above by @biostud, the disparity in the prices and capability between Chinese manufacturers and American ones is vast. 800% pricing differential. Trump would have to put on 800% tariffs on China to get American manufacturers a boost. Otherwise he is just tinkering on the edge.

In reality he is trying to raise revenue to pay for his tax cuts for the rich folk. A former Australian Prime Minister;
“[The baseline tariff] very much has the look and feel of a foreign consumption tax,” he said. “What seems to be driving that, from my observation, is more the need to raise revenue for broader tax cuts.”

Trump has promised “the largest tax cuts in history” to stimulate economic growth and business investment, but with a $US1.8 trillion budget deficit, he needs to find ways to pay for them.

In my time of playing Eve Online I did learn one particular lesson... "If you are in a fair fight, you planned it wrong." Maybe Trump has played Eve...
