If the orange brainless believe that Xi will bow to his irationality he s good for a rude awaking, China has a vivid memory when it comes to the infamous Unequal Treaties that destroyed her economy, she want her historical economic leadership back and she has already succeeded in doing so since in real terms their economy is actualy 25-30% bigger than the US's.

All they have to do to counter what is a non military war is to give their workers a 50$/month raise, wich is peanuts, this will amount to 350bn $ bigger domestic market and increase exports by 100-150bn $ in the rest of the world.

What is ironic is that lower oil prices will not only ease the thing but the currently higher $ parity vs the yuan allow them to dump their 761bn $ worth of US treasury
bunds at a good price to fuel their growth, all while saturating the US debt market
and hence cutting the US borrowing capacity wich will result in tremendous interest
rates.

We are living an acceleration of History and the definitive end of the US economic
dominance, those tarrifs were supposed to keep it from happening but instead will just bring it earlier, as nicely said by french writer Jean de la Fontaine a man will often find his destiny in the road he took to avoid it.

The fact is that as a firmly established authoritarian country that has no elections and where Xi exercises total control they can absorb far more pain than the US is able to. In all probability they will also be able to outmaneuver us.

Why is it MAGA thinks they can dominate the entire world when they're just 3% of the worlds population?

No way can they stop everyone trading with China militarily either.

Heck just add up South Korea, Japan, Vietnam.. only those 3 countries added together accounts for more trade to the USA.

Even as an authoritarian with near complete control, Xi still has to play with his own domestic politics in mind.

Our current crop of morons thinks other countries are just NPC merchants in a video game that you can keep shitting all over and nothing bad will ever happen.

Yes, how the admin has handled international relations will make it much harder for the nations who even might be inclined to deal to do so.

Trying to post your way through a financial meltdown is probably not going to work.

I wonder if China/US tariff situation between Xi and Trump will end up like this:

View attachment 121670

I've seen some talk on r/conservative (it's an interesting place) how Trump needs to get the EU onboard to also tariff China. Yeah, EU will get tariffed by the US and will be called "very nasty" and that "the EU was formed to screw the US" and now they'll add tariffs on China by US request? It's much more likely that EU will increase trade with China.
I see that it really is what the US government is planning, to make a deal with the EU and then go as a group to China?

  • On China, Bessent said that the U.S. could probably reach a deal with a set of allies and then "approach China as a group."

Which allies are those? The allies that Trump called "Nasty" and that were created just to "Screw the US"? Why would the EU join the US as a group against China? Why is it in their interest after whatever what the Trump administration is doing? It's much more likely that Europe improves its relationship with China. I might be completely wrong, but this just feels delusional.

The expectation is that basically the EU will just fold immediately? EU and China probably just have to hold out until midterms at the latest, maybe even earlier.

Yeah, it's not retaliation against China that people seem to be thinking about.

Is almost like those companies skirt regulations so they can pay low wages and 0 benefits...

Not to mention the federal minimum wage has not changed in 30 years. It's almost like inflation is a thing and we should account for it!
FTFY, it is really this:

Trump approval sinking even before people feel the material effects. Everybody is going to hate this and I suspect his approval sinks well under corresponding first term at this time.

Why is Hong Kong considered exports and why is it such a big number?

50 year agreement of the handover.

Hong Kong and Macau, which were colonies of the United Kingdom and Portugal , could both retain their established system under a high degree of autonomy for up to 50 years after reunification.
