I guess when they said it was universal, they really meant it. Was plugging in an older computer yesterday, and I accidentally slipped the usb plug for my mouse into the mobo's serial port. It fit almost perfectly, and provided just the right amount of resistance too. Which reminded me of a few months ago, when I plugged my usb keyboard into my ethernet port. Maybe one day in the future, all ports will be the same, and the computer will autodetect the type of peripheral and use it correctly.

For all you non believers:

Serial

Network unplugged

Network plugged

Lmao yeah. I plug my USB cable into my ethernet all the time. Then I stand there and scatch my head wondering why my mouse doesnt work.

USB fit into the 9pin serial/RS-232 port? What?? Not even close!

And USB to ethernet jack??? well that'd take a damn lot of force too. The only thing I used to mix up was the PS/2 mouse and keyboard plugs!

This sounds bizarre, but YEARS ago when I was worked as a level 2 tech for a large institution. It was winter time and I had a cold. I had taken some cold medicine and it made me kind of "medicine head-y," so I wasn't thinking straight. I had to install a new hard drive for a user and I was doing it more by feel than by sight. I accidentally plugged the molex power plug into the 40 pin IDE connector on the hard drive. Hahaha. Luckily I didn't turn the system on because I then went to plug the IDE cable in and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go in.
