No, the first woman was the clear shoe-in there
Well, she outperformed Al Gore nationally and outperformed Obama in red states (but those obvi went Republican for EC votes). It was losing the unionized Midwestern states (Mich/Wisc/Pa) that cost her (and us all) in the end. The final vote tallies in those 3 states were all within percentage points but to the victor go the spoils. Flip those 3 and Hillary wins 278-260. Hardcore Bernie Bros played a part, but not the whole story obviously. Trump turned blue collar union workers into white identity voters to some extent and turned their wives off of Hillary.

Cost us all indeed. I've been an active union member for more than 40 years in 2 different trades, and it is disheartening to witness the brain rot from the inside. They want the wages and benefits, but cannot be convinced of who supports those wages, and which party wants to repeal Davis-Bacon and would do anything possible to weaken unions.
Nobody remembers Patco, but that was the beginning of hard times for workers across the nation.

msnbc review of rfk jr and his claims/interference in oct 2019 measles outbreak in samoa.
2 nurses accidentally used muscle relaxant instead of water to dilute measles vaccine resulting in 2 deaths. anti vax ran with it to drop vax rates from 80% to 40% resulting in outbreak. rfk jr continues with antivax nonsense ignoring the nurses' actions and the fact that the vaccine was what ende the outbreak.

but rfk jr and his nutjob tendencies don't completely disqualify him because he sounds so compassionate. /s

turned their wives off of Hillary.

Post Trump.. it's very hard to find couples who disagree on politics. We all want sanity in our lives instead of having a Trumpanzee go postal on the family.

And we're also self segregating by politics:

And Hillary lost. My opinion is Bernie would have won against Trump.

Maybe, but it would have probably happened without my vote. He's WAAAAAY to liberal for this old Democray. I wouldn't have voted for Trump...but possibly one of the 3rd party candidates.
FWIW, I'm not a Hillary fan either, but do think she'd have been better than King Donnie the Twice Impeached.

I used to ponder the idea of moving our votes and potential for activism from our current blue state to where it might do some good, some of those swing states that figured heavily into results over the last several elections.
Oh fuck that noise! I like where I live for the climate as much as anything.
We are moving away from our little redneck slice O' Life here to a more even purplish-blue area, and that supports the self segregating suggested in your links.

You know what's really going on when some clown on Fox refers to him as Bobby!

I am totally down for whoever is on the dinner party fart beat to keep at it. Maybe make it a regular column.

My fav part:

"Dechert continued to scream wildly about the climate change “scam” . . .
Here, it seems, Dechert sensed the need for a new rhetorical tack, and let rip a loud, prolonged fart while yelling, as if to underscore his point, “I’m farting!”
[...]
Regrettably, we may assure readers that there was no room for doubt that the climate changed in the immediate environs of the dinner table."

It didn't really factor into my move, it was more of a bonus, I was tired of being in a triple-landlocked state, a full day's drive from the mountains, where it goes from below zero in the winter to over 100 in the summer. Like a shit sandwich with a side of shit fries and a giant douche to wash it all down with.

Point taken.
Winning is the only thing that moves the ball forward.

Also no link because I read it earlier. RFK Jr said all the trans stuff going on with kids had to do with chemicals in the water and in the (?)ground(?). Maybe just maybe we can finally get the Deplorable’s to support measure for clean water and pollution reduction.
I suspect this won’t happen because he’s probably talking about non detectable chemicals from China. Not good old US chemicals.

One thing I do admire about diehard progressives is their optimism. Biden is only the 2nd non-Protestant Christian to be elected President in American history (and the 1st one was assasinated), and the conservative base once stayed home and let a black man get re-elected rather than vote for a Mormon from their own party, but hey! the Socialist Jew would have for sure won in landslide!

People trust Bernie, even Conservatives.

Not enough, electorally, sadly. In his public life, he's maybe the only politician I can think of who has never, not once, strayed from his principals.
He was a vehicle to shake things up, just like Trump, except with Principles.
